WIW 04.17.12 - stripes, sandals, and turquoise

Here is my new Nic+Zoe jacket in action! I sewed in some small shoulder pads and they made a world of difference in the fit - the little lift in the shoulder got rid of a lot of the bust/underarm saggage. Paired with my striped sleeveless tunic (which is now really and truly a tunic instead of a dress since I managed to shrink it in the wash), clams, and sandals that sort of echo the stripes on the top. I think this is a more classic look than normal for me, but I like it!

Wearing Nic+Zoe jacket, Dorothy Perkins top, Radcliffe Denim jeans, Naot shoes, Georg Jensen pendant.

Ah, so THIS is why shoulder pads were invented! I never knew, lol. Looking great, Diana; The striped top and shorts create a nice vibe with the blazer.

Thanks, ladies! I realized at some point that all of my well-fitting jackets either have shoulder pads or gathering at the shoulder (so, like a very subtle puff sleeve) to mitigate my slanty shoulders, so I figured that shoulder pads would fix the weak shoulder line on this blazer. The same blazer looks great on Kelly as is, but she is an IT and I am not. Since it's a knit and unlined, the original shoulder had no structure at all!

I never would have thought of adding a little shoulder pad to a jacket, which is embarrasing since I"m a sewer. I love the bright jacket with the stripes. Tres chic.

Awesome, killer casual outfit! And you are so clever to solve the jacket fit issue, it looks amazing now. Surely I will copy this idea. Apparently I have a typical hourglass figure in that my shoulders are small and bust (proportionately) larger as are my hips. The shoulders almost always sag on me. You have shown that adding shoulder pads does not make one appear the football player.

SMART thinking, Diana! This looks unbelievable. I have difficulty with shoulder pads, so I'm guessing I need to figure out the *right* ones for my shoulders.
