WIW-the essential black turtleneck

There has always been a black turtleneck sweater in my closet, and often a navy and a grey one as well. It is an essential with a capital ‘E’. I wore this seasons version (cotton knit) 3 times in the past 2 weeks. It is a true wardrobe workhorse.

#1 haven’t worn this skirt since October ( too cold) and never with the turtleneck.
#2 a simple column of black.
#3 I was planning on saving these trousers for spring - but couldn’t resist!

I’ve purged my black turtlenecks, even though I’ve always had one in my wardrobe, feeling they are too harsh near my face, but you are making me rethink that. Love the skirt!

Totally agree a black turtle neck is an E! You rock all of these. I love the all black with crops and booties. Can’t go wrong with that, ever. My all time fave black t- neck is nearing the end of its probably decade-long run and I am grieving its ultimate demise. Have looked to duplicate but have never found the perfect replacement. I have others of course but they are not perfect.

Love the E for black turtlenecks. I’m the same- I may even triplicate for next winter, because they are such a backbone of my wardrobe, Nov-Feb. Gorgeous skirt, and I love that you pulled out the new pants. Those are fab with your booties.

Funny, I've always had one as well, at least since I spent a year in France and totally fell in love with the way the French wore them (with jeans and a black and white plaid jacket was the look I esp loved).
Last year I treated myself to a cashmere one when I was in Scotland :).

But while I can't imagine not having one in my closet, I haven't worn it yet this year! Although it IS part of my "deep winter" capsule that I'm working from. And I will.

Anyway, as Cee said, "you wear it well" - all three looks are very different. An E indeed!

I love a black turtleneck, and navy, and a grey (charcoal's best). Wearing my grey one (mid-grey) today. I love look #1 especially -- very 60s mod retro. Also like all black with fun socks!

I'm with you on the black and ink blue t-neck wardrobe essential. They are my Winter tees.

I love what you've done in #3, Carla. VERY ON TREND. I suspect the length is 2 to 3 inches above ankle bone and that the angle of the photo is making them look longer.

I love, LOVE these ensembles. You look so sophisticated in your black turtleneck. You knocked number 1 out of the park! Then number 2 blew me away as well. Different, yet both perfect.

Don’t know if these pics are any better?!? Also, decided tucking the sweater into the trousers was better than a semi- tuck. (Loving these pants! So comfy!) Need to do an outfit lab... and will measure the bottom of the pants to make sure they are PPL!

You wear a black turtleneck with the best of them, Carla! It looks great in all three outfits. Fab with that beautiful skirt, in outfit 1, Very sleek in the tonal outfit, and absolutely amazing with those trousers in 3!!

I love turtlenecks but cannot tolerate anything around my neck. I will admire them on others.

The essential turtlenecks go with everything winter in my world. Your black turtle looks amazing! I love the details of the knit “stripes” on yours. I think it raises the bar for black turtles. LOVE with the skirt and new pants!
