WIW- Olive Baggies + Blue Suede Shoes

So I haven't been reaching for these Gap slouchy khakis but I thought it was time to give them another try. I wanted to pair them with a more unconventional color and one of my favorite belts (at Angie's request) but the belt was too wide for the loops. So I had to figure out another option. A navy belt seemed neutral enough and I wanted to try out my new blue suede sandals (DH dubbed them my "Blue Suede Shoes"). I have a very lightweight unstructured slub knit navy "blazer" for the cold AC so I came up with this outfit. I tried the pants rolled up, and rolled up and scrunched just for fun.

The shoes show their color best in the first photo (it's very dark and rainy here today so colors weren't showing best).

What do you think? Does powder blue navy and olive work? What would you change?

I like them rolled to under the knee, and love them with the blazer. I like the colours together a lot.

I definitely think they work, I like it a lot! You have an easy relaxed vibe about you.

Ceit - I had a feeling you'd like them scrunched up. I really like them with the blazer too.

Carole - at first DH was skeptical about the color combo, until I put on the shoes, then he said "yes, that works". These Gap slouchy khakis are pretty roomy but it is a fun change of pace. I bought the larger of my usual size (I go between 8 and 10) so I could have sized down I guess but then they wouldn't have all that bagginess.

I like them with the blazer and I like the different shades of blue with the olive pants.

Well I really like this on you (surprise, surprise). The olive color for the pants takes them out of khaki territory and the relaxed light blue T with navy totally works for me. I like them scrunched, but most of all I like that they're versatile and you can roll them down in cold A/C if you want. I think sleeves and pant legs should be able to roll up and down for practical not just fashion reasons! What a concept.

That cornflower blue is a lovely color on you. I like the mix of blues and the blazer looks good. I like the pants rolled to under your knee. I do think that the cropped pants and dark ankle straps of the sandals cut your leg in two places, so that might be something you can play with.

Claire - Glad you approve :-). And you're right, it IS nice to be able to adjust the pant length just like our sleeve length. I just returned a different pair of khaki tans - I ordered them thinking they were a more denim material. I guess I just didn't read clearly. Then they arrived and were just like those khakis I wore at the office for so many years, just a lower rise. "Those" tan khakis were not a good fashion memory for me. I can wear them as shorts but not as pants. I'm still on the lookout for some neutral colored slim or straight jeans but I don't think grey is right for me, unless I could find a charcoal or sort of brownish grey.

I thhink the colors are utterly gorgeous, and I wouldn't change a thing! I prefer the legs rolled up to under your knees. The navy knit blazer is adding enough structure and contrast to make this a really beautiful and chic outfit.

I like the pants rolled both ways (I'm warming up to this look!), I prefer this outfit without the topper. This color combination is fabulous on you!

You look so effortlessly stylish. What a great khakis look--both scrunched and rolled. I think the blues look amazing with the olive. LOVE the wide belt. You nailed it. Those khakis deserve time out in the sun--they are fab on you!

RE: Fashion tape. I saw your post but didn't want to bump up again. It doesn't leave a sticky residue on clothes does it? I will look next time I'm at the store. Do you get it at places like Target or Joanne's?

Kelly, the fashion tape did not leave a sticky residue on anything I've used it on so far. I got mine via Amazon but I imagine they may carry it other places. Here's a link to the kind I bought:

The colors are great together and I like the pants best in the second version, rolled to just below the knee, but my eye is still adjusting to the longer rolled style.
I've also used fashion tape (from SteinMart) with good results.

That blue is so pretty, I like it with the olive. It reminds me a bit of Day Vies outfit with her husband's jacket. All of the pants lengths are nice, I think prefer the scrunched look if only because it is a bit more unexpected.

You look ready for anything! My favorite is the last, with the rolled pants and jacket. It's a bit more polished but I like the way this outfit can transition depending on whether you remove the jacket and/or scrunch the pants. You could go on a long walk then have brunch at a chic cafe and look just right.

Lovely colour combination. Powder blue goes so well with olive khakis. I actually have these khakis on their way to me. Now I want a powder blue blouse too.
