WIW- Gastby Picnic at the National Cathedral

We ended the last days of summer by attending the first inaugural Gatsby Picnic hosted by Dardanella which held in mid-September at the National Cathedral in DC. I always love the idea of dressing up in fancy clothes (vintage style) and this event gave us the perfect opportunity to do so. hoto #5- My swing instructors were there. There are the first 2 people from the left.

My dress: Jones NY via Ebay.
Shoes: Vintage Farragamo t-straps
Cloche hat: eBay
Gloves: vintage store
parasol: bought way back when from somewhere.

How beautiful!!! You all look so wonderful. I'd love to attend something like this outdoors. In fact, I went to a winter party a few years ago where we dressed similarly (though not quite as successfully) - see photo.

Excellent job, and what fun!

Our town had a Twenties Night a couple of weekends ago. I read about it at 6 pm, it was supposed to be from 5-8. I drove back through town looking carefully, and only saw some women in pants, so not trying at all.

Then this weekend, our town (the home of Scrabble's inventor) was host to the International Scrabble Tournament, held in Canada for the first time. And I read about THAT a few hours after the amateurs' match was over... Clearly, I need to pay more attention to my newsfeed, or something.

You look fabulous and it sounds like such a fun event! DH and I visited there a month or so ago and really loved it. The cathedral and grounds are so pretty.

I love this so much. I have photos of my grandfather in the early 1900's posed on a moon like that, so it is vintage too.

I'm so sorry not to respond earlier but thank you all so much for the compliments. It's too bad no one dresses up any more and this was such a fun event to dress up for. If this event proves to be as successful as it seemed, maybe we can hold a meet-up next year.

That looks so fun, and you guys look fantastic! Yes, I do wish I had more occasions to dress up, although I'd be in trouble trying to dress for an event like this because I can't think of anything in my closet that would work for it.

@Janet - Thanks Janet and that's why I try not to spend too much money on outings like this. I also try buy outfits/ dresses that could work today or have a modern version ff a Gatsby look. It surely doesn't have to be so literal.

FYI - Dandies and Quaintrelles is having their annual tweed bike ride in early November if anyone wants to meet up. The ride is free but you'd have to register.
