I've been working on kicking up my smart casual work outfits a notch. (As in dressier and more interesting) And also my style resolution of wearing my jewelry every day. I've been taking lots of pictures but didn't want to post them. It's funny how something feels great and looks good-I think, then when I look at the picture it's like ew. So I decided to post some for feedback to see what you think works and what doesn't, and also to have history of outfits. Please feel free to skip the text.
pic #1-2 = Felt great in this and loved the color mixing. Old orphan purple sweater (due to being too short) layered over LLBean periwinkle button shirt, olive jeans and blue Muk Luks winter ankle boots. Diamond circle necklace and silver dolphin ring.
#3-4 = Clearance BR sweater, very old light-wash bootcut favorites, burgundy Cashmink scarf and Bucco ivory fur-lined ankle boots. Thought this was ok for a cold Friday. Liked the scarf with the coat. I get a kick out of how the embellishment on the sweater reminds me of the candy buttons from childhood! CWC Pearl snowman earrings.
#5 = Same formula as my "Saved skirt" post. BR turtleneck and Talbots mosaic tile print wool skirt. Matching SIL cloudy blue earrings and bracelet. I liked my nude tights with this. Are they ok?
#6-7 = BR black/grey/white striped top, JJill black skirt, LA Orange blazer, old black suede boots. Rustish "pearl" drop earrings and gold/onyx dolphin ring. Again not sure about the tights, so I swapped the nude for black. ?
#8-9 = BR cobalt zip tunic layered over old orphan Chico's cobalt turtleneck (due to being too short), Talbots white jeans and new Asos white shoes. Pearl and chains necklace and cuff. Felt elegant in this but not sure it looks that way. I tried this tunic over other shirts so I can wear it all winter but I think I only like it layered over low contrast (to avoid what I thought looked like a star trek outfit on me). I look forward to wearing it without a layer. I wish the jeans didn't look so wrinkly.
#10-11 = Topshop vest, INC snakeskin blouse, JJill charcoal skirt, nude tights, boc black embellished heeled boots. Fancy earrings that go up my ear.
#12 = Long black wavy-textured sweater over JJill window pane shirt over Apt9 coral tee. Chico's charcoal skinny pants, White Mtn black suede wedge booties. Long black necklace wound twice. Not sure if this one worked at all. A coworker said it looked like an 80's outfit. He wasn't sure why.
#13 = BR black sweater over old black and white textured tunic, old dark bootcut jeans. Wore old black ankle boots for cold rain. Grey "sparkly" scarf - I felt no jewelry was the way to go.
#14 = JJill Mini striped tunic over Talbots tomato red button shirt, RH skinny jeans, Franco Sarto grey oxfords. Pearl inlay dragonfly earrings. Casual for Friday.
#15 = Talbots coral/tomato red knit blazer over Loft print tank, Talbots navy ankle pants, Sole Society zip loafer. Silpada silver/pearl earrings and ring.
#16 = Old orphan Chico's embellished cardigan (never sure on styling it but love the way it makes me feel, and love the sleeve's wrist cutout), JJill floral scarf, JJill tomato red skirt and Clarks buckle ankle booties. Vintage hand-me-down ornate gold/stone ring. Also wearing tomato red tank and necklace but like it better with the just the scarf. I think the sweater could've been shorter with the skirt? The ankle boots are a HEWI filled after two years of looking! PPP!
I'm sorry this turned out so long!
