It is with some trepidation that I post these pants - dropped crotch, cropped length, high waisted. Really a lot of things that are not so popular and unflattering. And then I tried a half tuck, which is very challenging for me. But I found these Ann Demeulemeester pants at a consignment shop and couldn't resist. I did not wear them out of the house, and might never, but really want to know what you think! Frank comments are appreciated.

Okay, I am totally swooning over the semi-tuck. Like, seriously fainting from the fabness of the whole look from head to toe! LOVE IT!!

Not necessarily digging the full tuck so much. But I love the pants!! And those sandals! Oy!!

I'm with the other ladies here Shevia - kinda digging those trousers on you and I love them with the nude wedge sandal. Semi tuck totally works here. There's a strange mix of androgeny and sexy here that I really like.

I do not even know how to express how much I appreciate you all! In some things I am brave and/or oblivious, but wearing such a fashiony (to my eyes) look makes me super self-conscious.

MaryK, I forgot to write that the full tuck is for illustration purposes only - I tried the semi-tuck since clearly a full tuck does not work on short waisted (and short) me. Shannon, I believe it was you who inspired me to try a semi-tuck at all. Suz, thanks! The sandals are from a French brand called mi-mai and I bought them new on consignment for about 20% of the sticker price. I normally don't even wear these modest heels but the cork makes them super comfy and shock absorbing.

What's not to love?! I even think a full tuck could work with a less-contrasty top, or a jacket over the top.

Is this the same consignment shop at which you found your Miu Miu jacket? I CANNOT believe the thrifting you've got goin' on!!

The proportions are fantastic, despite all the tricky parts you called out - how did that happen? Perhaps magic sandals? Very cool.

Shevia, this is your best ever! Yes, it breaks ALL the rules and then some, but I think with the perfect balance of volume and structure (tapering, semi-tucking), and elongating aspects (pleats down front, nude high sandals, bare arms), this is a textbook case of short and slouchy done 100% right. This is magazine-cover material. Please wear with every confidence, and again.

I'm curious to see whether the proportions would still work with a cropped jacket on top, or whether the bare arms are crucial to balance...

I liked the semi tucked look. It suits you better. The full tuck is shortening your upper half.

Another big thanks to your collective boosting and support services! Aida, they are 100% cotton and wash well. Manidipa and Una - we have a mutual outfit admiration society going since I love both of your styles. Jonesy - these were consignment credit, whereas the Miu Miu jacket was from the local equivalent of goodwill. Once in the while I find the most amazing things there. Fern and Kyle thanks! Don't know about the hem since there are buttons but maybe? Anna, so right, she is amazing.

You TOTALLY pull off #1 - dropped crotch and cropped length and all. I love that look on you, Shevia! The heeled nude sandals work wonders and so does the bookending with your dark hair.

This type of outfit works so well for Israel too. That's where I got all my harem pants/dropped crotch trend inspiration from in the first place. I am a convert and LOVE my harem pants

Can't see the dropped crotch well because black is so hard to photograph.....but I love the entire vibe of #1! The half tuck is wonderful and you look so relaxed yet put together! Great outfit!

Looks like they're a hit! My gut reaction was "WOW AWESOME" to #1, and after mulling I still feel that way I think the fit is spot on, and the architectural quality is perfect for you. I bet they would also look fun dressed up with some sequins or silk. So! Will we get to see an outfit you wear out of the house with them soon??
