This is a great outfit, but I totally get that it feels ‘off’ and not your desired style. And I get where red could work for you where yellow doesn’t. I think they could be more your style worn with tans or generally lower contrast outfits, more muted yellow tones…
These are fab shoes--my younger kid has mustard Vans that seem to go with everything, especially blues and grays, so I'll bet these will be very versatile for your style. The shape is elegant and they look great with your outfit! Your bag is the perfect complement (though my allegiance is to dogs :), I also love cats!). Canvas totes work so well in the summertime.
Is your hair color dark? Red could be another kind of pop, if on the darker/brownish or burgundish/cooler side(?).... These are much lighter and for me they read almost orange (so, a warm hue) and could have another effect on the overall aesthetics you are used, to. I say because I am blonde and love me a pop of coral/orange and yellow/citron & animal or light pastels in my shoes but I struggle with some brighter and medium to high intensity of cooler shades of say reds, purple and blues. It worth analysing deeper before you throw it in the bin(the experience with the pop of colored shoes in general). Otherwise great shoes, and looking fab to your outfit-You are just not used to them!
