So I have been taking advantage of our relatively cold weather to wear my wool jackets. And I realized that Angie's persona post might clarify why I don't align with any one fashion persona. Or maybe I do and I just don't see it? What I do love is to juxtapose styles and pieces. Pretty and tough, vintage and current, etc.

#1 - Long brown vintage coat, vintage cashmere sweater, vintage bag, combined with current jeans and sneakers
#2 Pink and pretty vintage coat combined with tougher Doc Martens and tough bag.
#3 Blue vintage statement coat worn with basic sweater and platform sneakers. This was the least satisfying - maybe because it is the least juxtaposition?

Everything I am wearing in these photos is second hand.
Any comments or thoughts about coats, personas or lack thereof welcome!

I agree with you, I think I am the same. If I stick with one "look" then it feels a little boring. I love your outfits, such fun coats. The pink is my favorite.

The way you combine the different pieces, it shows that you're not intimidated by them or showcasing any particular item, even bright or very strong colors and styles.

The best part is that you take the different elements and combine them so well that I don't see them as "elements" anymore.

Also, way to go with the secondhand shopping skills!

I think personas can be super inspiring to create outfits, like 'today I want to channel my inner demure bombshell' ;). As for you entire style I do see coherence. Trendy, vintage, playful and practical (in an 'out and about' way) are words that come to mind. But if a persona doesn't help you than why bother!

I love how each one is unique in colour and shape. They all suit you and look great.

I feel similarly - I dress almost exclusively second-hand, and don’t feel the need to stay in one “box” for a fashion persona. It’s fun to have the freedom to move around!

I’ve love all the coats, especially the blue, and wonder if the blue would be better with different/edgier shoes?

Your style is the epitome of ECLECTIC! I see Modern Bohemian - mixing Elements of classic and boho styles. There is always an element of ‘uptown’ to your outfits via the awesome designer pieces you source at second hand - the quality is palpable.

Beautiful coats. I like how you’ve styled them with more casual elements. Curly hair juxtaposes any classic lines, as do jeans and sneaks. #2 is my favourite. I really like the colours and proportions.

I think all 3 are great!
I actually like # 3 just fine. I think my only improvement might be to lighten the base outfit colors more to highlight the cobalt coat. It goes” with denim but isn’t showcased by it. Or maybe go darker, like black denim.

For the look in #3 - the shape/style of the jeans is important. It may work even better with slimmer denim, or just dark one as it was mentioned above. But lots of fun any way!

You have great coats! I think thrifting lends itself to a wide variety of styles. You never know what's going to arrive!

I wonder if #3 is your least fav because, at least to me, its has a casual vibe, where as both #1 and #2 because of the cut of the jackets are more tailored and therefore give more of a dressy feel.
I always feel that you’re best outfits have a blend of tailored and relaxed/fluid

Jaime, you described your style well! You like variety, tension and juxtaposition in your style, but manage to find harmony and pull together the look through ongoing common variables. Carla is right about Eclectic. Joy is the same.

#1 has a fun '90s vibe to it!

#3 is futuristic! I also see a wide cuff on those jeans and some fun black and white socks.

Liesbeth - I think I am more curious about how I come off to others persona wise than about a persona as inspiration per se. I am going for eccentric in a good way .

Angie - Thank you for your description! And perfect call on the 90s coat of course. I sort of think the third coat is a bit avant garde in shape and I want to play that up more - love you suggestions. And it does not come as a surprise that you like shocking pink !

I love the first two on you! What wonderful coats. And I like Angie's suggestions for the blue (it looks fine as it is but I agree it could have a bit more punch if I am being very picky!)

I see your style as a balance between vintage/eclectic and modern and practical and fun....And I think you get the balance just right. You have the eye that makes the vintage look modern, without being classic, even though some of your pieces are classic. Sometimes you lean more one way than the other but in general I can see a Shevia theme coming through.

Love all, and must I be a 90's girl if I love nr 1 the most? Second is a great color combo, and would like to see the coat with a skirt, too! (I guess that would be more predictable and classic?hah-)Than gorgeous easy chic and casual look in nr 3-wow, love those flatforms and the cocoon coat!:-)

Juxtaposition is indeed the key for your style and toy do it so well. I would guess that Eclectic is a very good descriptor for you.

I love the variety of shapes and colours here! Happy pink coat plus stompy Docs is a perfect juxtaposition.

Re: #3, I struggle pairing blues with other blues. Sometimes the saturation/warmth/etc is just a little bit off and it bothers me almost as much as wearing the wrong greys together. I think I'd try a column of black or white under the cobalt coat, and see if that helps it sing. Maybe some bright accessories too -- yellow? cognac?
