I am loving these Me + Em trousers I bought back last summer on a good sale and then waited until after my Camino walk to have altered. Post-Camino, they were easily a size and a half too big, and the alteration has made them perfect. They are a little long for any footwear flatter than these western boots, but for now I can commit to a substantial shoe with them.

They’re a little dressy for my usual days so I style them down with items like graphic tees, plaid flannel, or denim, and casual footwear. They could easily dress up with a silk blouse, velvet blazer, sparkly heels, etc. I love the button detail at the hem, and they feel like a million bucks when I wear them — they’re substantial but not heavy, and have a satisfying swish when I walk.

Worn yesterday for lunch with a friend, a little walk through the shops for the first time in ages, and later an evening judging a local photo competition. I’m wearing a red v-neck sweater from Rag & Bone about 7 years old, my western black and white boots, and a very old (maybe 14 years?) Mavi denim jacket that probably qualifies as “shrunken” in fit these days since I was smaller back then, but sometimes I like fitted structure to offset the wide pants. I carried my new Aest handbag, which I’m really enjoying.

Photos taken at Anthro, where I tried on a few things. The tops didn’t excite me, but I did come home with these tie-detail, navy, 100% cotton balloon pants, which are wonderfully light and breezy and could be a great warm-weather addition. I need to try them on with summer footwear because they are a little short on me — I want to make sure the length isn’t awkward before I commit. Sorry, didn’t get pics of those on me.
