WIW - what's not working?

Hi friends, today I'm wearing a fall outfit inspired by a sahm style site I enjoy. I think I like this outfit, but I'm not 100% sure. I like the nearly-neutrals palette, and the silhouette is my go to. I actually prefer it in the photo to how it feels on ... I'm wondering what it is; the boots maybe? Or just that it's a bit different (but not a lot different really) from my usual? I don't know. Feedback welcome!

I think it’s a really good outfit, and I think another color boot would make the outfit even better.

Yes, I almost feel like a need a blush shoe to match the jacket lol ... I have a matching problem!

I agree the color of the boots is what struck me as being maybe just not quite right. I struggle with shoe color too but I think if you had a pair of blush booties or sneaks they would look fab with that jacket. But if it doesn't "feel" right then I wonder, is it the jacket that doesn't feel right or the booties or something else?

I can't find any fault with the outfit, but perhaps you could meditate on why it feels bad on, and see if there's something you could switch out.

I like it. But was also thinking that if you bookend the jacket (boots or even socks?), or echo the boot color with a bag or necklace or earrings, it might be more cohesive.

Yes, there's definitely a mismatch somewhere ... it feels disorganized, which is also why it would *feel* off to me. I think it's the boot, but not sure I have anything in the closet to solve ... might have to play with different combos instead. Thanks ladies!!

Maybe add jewelry or a scarf that combines the colors better. Accessories are lacking, which may help you get a more cohesive look.

The individual pieces are great, but you have a mix of clear tones , earth tones, and a dusty pastel......which makes it hard for the eye to find a focus or see it as a whole. A jacket that matched your boots would be great , or a lighter coloured sweater under the jacket....something in an oatmeal colour that would tie in the boots and be at the same level of intensity as the jacket.

Torontogirl, try to change top and keep boots and jacket. Boots are great and jacket is beautiful. Maybe, white top, burgundy or stripes , just try and add jewellery or scarf.

Not really helpful, but I can't stop thinking that this would be a 10/10 outfit if your jacket was the color of your shirt, and vice versa. You have rich, beautiful coloring, so maybe a more colorful topper would be an even better choice? With that said, you absolutely look very elegant, cool, chic and stylish in this outfit!

I wore a blush-ish leather jacket with light brown booties last evening and it kept bothering me, so I think it is that combination that might not be working.
I agree with others who suggest a more neutral sweater, but I really think it is blush + brown that's getting us.

Yes it is almost right...,and the pieces are terrific. Some ideas-

- different top - a Breton with blue in it or blush or even a white tee
- different shoes - navy, blush or metallic?

in saying that you still look great!!

You have four colors in this outfit. The silhouettes are outstanding. It's just the colors, there are too many. Try three colors and have two items in the outfit that match.

For example, a navy top that matches the jeans.
Or navy / dark booties that matches the jeans.
Or -- buy some blush booties to work with the jacket.

I like the outfit you went out in.

Bookending shoes? Burgundy or chocolate shoes would tie in with your hair (or navy or black...). A patterned top that picks up on one of the other colours in the outfit? The teal and the denim look a little clash-y to me, but I have a weird thing about not mixing blues if they have different degrees of warmth. I have very limited selection of blue tops because I tend to dislike the way they look with denim. I love the blush moto!!

I have to say I liked your first outfit very much as it is (maybe I should study everybody's suggestions ). I have a similar moto jacket (same shape and color) and I wear it with mostly everything. Your second outfit was great too--that scarf!

My first instinct would be to let the top recede under the blush jacket by wearing cream, light taupe or pale mushroom which would bring the brown tone from the boots, or a boho-lite print or embroidered top with pale pink or blush, beige, medium blue and white, sticking to an effect of light or medium value.

One thing about this outfit which has otherwise excellent ingredients that would bother me to wear: very dark top under light topper. I seem to have a poison eye for that. (Once I wore a dark orange shell sweater under a cream cardigan to work, and then went to have my driver’s license renewed, so I had a picture of that uncomfortable combo on my license for the next four years! Ugh!)

I do like your black sweater and scarf outfit and you look happier with it!

Well your dissatisfied look does not bookend well with your happy boots ! Mostly what everyone said. I would actually try a navy (Jeans color) top and leave the rest alone.

I agree with above, great pieces but nothing to tie them together. Blush shoes would be gorgeous or maybe a tan jacket with the boots. Second outfit is great, love the scarf.

You've gotten good feedback already -- I would add that this is a perfect silhouette, but the thing that would make it all work as a cohesive outfit is a scarf that has a pattern that pulls all the colors together.

I love that pinkish jacket. I’d wear it with a navy top, dark jeans, and navy boots OR a black top, black pants, and black boots.
Your final outfit is very nice.

I think a boot closer to pant color will work since bookending isn’t something in your wardrobe. I know this style challenge and always had to twerk looks myself.
