WIW - Way Outside the Comfort Zone

Hi,

Sorry for my reduced absence on the forum lately. My job is moving. And I'm in the middle of both selling and purchasing a new place.

I've also been stepping way outside my comfort zone lately. Bright bottoms, maxi dresses, lots of bright colors!

#1-Maxi Dress
First time ever I've purchased a maxi dress. I'm still getting used to having to shuffle in it instead of my usual walking stride.

#2-Bright Blazer
I'm really attracted to this bright blue color this season.

#3/4-Bright Trousers
I was really against the bright bottoms, until I saw these trousers. I go without the blazer for a casual twist for weekends. I usually go sans blazer to "casualize" my work outfits.

#5-Pattern Mix
Mixing stripes and dots.

#6/7-Green and Grey
My second favorite color this season appears to be this green shade.

Oooh the Queen of Blue has gone bright Love this cobalt shade on you Lisa, and the emerald is equally fab (and of course you KNOW I love them paired together!). You're looking great! I like the print on the maxi, I couldn't get used to the "shuffling" myself We're sort of blazer twins, I have the one in #2 in red! It has such a cool cut, right? I like the trousers in #3/4, but I would like to see them a bit shorter. Maybe 2" or so? I adore #5-7, pattern mix is fab, and I am just really loving the green and gray together. Hope the rest of your move goes smoothly!

What a lovely maxi! I think this would look terrific with a lightweight cardi, too. I love the cobalt crops, but agree with Aida that I think they'd be even better a couple of inches shorter. I love them with the jacket, and I also think they'd look great with the green top you're wearing in 6 and 7. Nice pattern mixing in your final ensemble!

Am STUNNED by how awesome you look in that blue. Definitely a signature colour for you! Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. I've never have thought of adding that colour to an LBD. And mixing it with grey is so very cool! LOVE the pattern mixing of #5 --- very trendy. But I think the maxi dress and green jacket are my favourite of the lot. Just FANTABULOUS.

Okay, I'm done screaming with joy! Agree with Aida, the cropped pants could stand to ride a little higher on your calves.

Love the colours of the maxi dress - but you know I want you to hem it to a midi

KILLER cobalt blue blazer. It's sublime with black.

I really like the fit of the cobalt pants! How do you feel about shortening them a few inches?

#5 is totally divine and you rock that shade of emerald green. Nice Sperrys too!

Aida-Thanks! Blazer twins, yay! The Express blazer has a really nice weight to it doesn't it? And I'm going to have to repost the cropped trousers for lengthening suggestions. I'm going to have to try out some remix outfits with pairing these brights together.

Beth Ann-Thanks! Pairing the green and cobalt is a great idea! And I agree, a cardigan will work well with the maxi dress.

ManidipaM-Thanks! I am definitely on team blue. And I was shopping with a capsule in mind. A smaller wardrobe that mixes and matches easily has really made getting dressed in the morning a breeze.

Angie-Thanks! I don't think I can hem the maxi dress without messing up the pattern on it. I am hoping to wear it on days that it is too hot for jeans, but I am too lazy to shave my legs. The cobalt blazer is currently my favorite in my closet, such a bright happy color. I'll have to report the cobalt pants in a new thread for shortening suggestions. The Sperry's are quite comfy and have a nice built in arch inside.

I especially like the maxi dress. I recently bought a maxi skirt and am considering another casual maxi dress (I have one, but it's just a bit revealing so I only feel comfortable wearing it for beach vacations), so you've inspired me! I'd love to see your maxi dress with some strappy flat black sandals. By the way, how are your feet feeling?

Janet-Thanks! My feet are back to 100%, I'm even back to running again. The first few weeks running felt weird but now the muscles and tendons have stretched and I don't even notice I ever had any work done on my foot. Sandals will have to wait until next year, as I have to keep the scar covered this summer. And I'm too lazy to put sunscreen on my feet all day. But I'll keep your suggestion in mind because I think a black sandal would work really well with the maxi dress, great idea!

I'm so glad that your feet are back to normal! How about some light coloured covered Summer shoes?

Yay! So nice to see you, Lisa! Love all of your new colorful outfits. You look amazing in those brights : ) I'm so glad you posted the maxi dress. I was so curious to see if after you told me about it. I love how you dressed it up with the blazer. It looks comfy and polished. You can always shorten it if you tire of the maxi length. The cobalt blazer is amazing on you. Fab color and cut! How coincidental, I see that you have found my favorite Target tee too--aren't they great? Love the basic tee with the crops and blazer. That is exactly the kind of spring look that I've been aiming for : ) Emerald blouse is gorgeous--nice the way you allow it to shine against the neutrals.

I would also shorten the cobalt pants a tiny little bit.

My favorite capsule colors! Love the emerald and cobalt and you definitely could mix so much of these components. I like the gray blazer over the loose green top - that's a pairing I have not explored but it's inspiring.
