I actually had time this morning, and there is a pile of clothes on my bed I need to put away tonight. Ah well! I ended up running out of time and opted for my Ralph Lauren white trousers and watercolor top. It will be warm enough for today's chill, but still makes me feel like summer isn't completely gone.

I tried it with the blue jacket in picture #2, and then opted not to wear the jacket. This jacket has me stymied. I have tried to wear it several times this summer as I love the color, but it just hasn't worked. Wondering if I should just donate it.

Fresh and pretty, Thistle! I wonder what it is about the jacket that bothers you? Perhaps it is the way the sleeves end right where the jacket ends? Or is it the jacket's length with pants? Did you try it with skirts/ dresses?

I agree the jacket is probably too short for the pants and that is what looks off to you. The jacket isn't super tailored either but I don't think that is a problem, especially for the summery color and vibe. Since the color is so great, maybe try styling as a topper over dresses--for A/C in summer--so even keep if you have a goal dress in mind in related colors. You could try it with random dresses to start, just to see if the proportions click.

Hard to know what the thing is about the jacket. If you keep rejecting it yourself, I would clear it out so your whole closet loves you well and easily, whatever the reason it is that it's not suiting you.

I agree that something seems less than optimal. Full length sleeves might be better (for no rational reason; I just squint and think yeah maybe). Or a fit that looks like it would close if you wanted it too. This is a personal eye thing. Some people find a fit that's never going to close looks just fine open. Others think it throws the eye off even when open is the intended style. So that could be it. I don't know, there's something proportional about it, but I can't put my finger on it. Such a shame because the color is outstanding on you.

To my eye it's the straight jacket hem. I have a black jacket cut that way and can't seem to wear it. A curved hem seems more flattering, even a slight curve.

Love the colors on you! I think it's a really pretty jacket. I'm not sure about the length with this combo. It seems like if the top was longer, it would work. Or if you were wearing the jacket with a skirt that might work better.

These are my happy colors and they look fantastic on you! I don't see any glaring problems with the jacket. If I could see it from different angles I could give you better feedback. I'm not sure what about the jacket has you stumped. because I am not sure that longer would be better. Just to be clear I love this outfit both ways. With the jacket looks "finished" so that look wins for me by a hair.

Pil - The jacket does not button. Maybe that is part of it. I think I am going to try it with a dress next week!

Thistle I love the fresh colours on you! I kind of like the jacket but I do get that some of the other ladies think it may be a tad short and may be better suited to dresses, I'm inclined to agree somewhat though it bothers me less. AG has a point about the lack of curve. Can we see it with some dresses before we help you decide?

I love this outfit with and without the jacket. What is it about the jacket that you don't like? The fit and length both look good to me.

What AG said - I think the straight line across the hem can make for a boxier look. Love the colours - YLF. I love blue & purple together

I'd love to see the jacket with a dress! I'd like it as is, but I do think it's short length and shape would work well as a dress topper.

I will for use try the jacket with a dress next week. Thanks for the input. Maybe this is what is meant by a different length for pants versus skirts!

Love the colors. When I am not sure about something I give myself a certain length of time to either make it work or it's gone. Maybe the jacket would be better with a darker bottom?

Ah, jeans twin! I think the issue with the jacket is that it is too boxy. Your other jackets have a nipped waist and this one does not. I say donate and try to fine one in this color with a fit you like.
