WiW - Volunteering casual style

Morning all! Here's a shot of what I wore yesterday when I was volunteering at our local seniors cafe.

I'm not terribly comfortable in jeans - I'm never sure of the fit. These are Jasper Conran for Designers at Debenhams and are a couple of years old now & getting really faded.

The pumps are from M&S as is the light blue vest.
The t-shirt is from Joe Browns and has sequins & beads running through it.
All topped off with my new cardi & big blue bag.

I felt ok but looking at the pictures I'm not so sure about it all - isn't it funny how outfits can look completely different in a photo?

I think you look wonderful in these jeans. I really love these shades of blue on you, and I like how you you've paired the blues with light grey here. Also love the style of your T-shirt.

Those jeans are great & will probably get even better as they age. Like the T but not sure about the cardi.

Edit: just reread his and not sure what I meant re the colours so have deleted that comment.

Blue is a great color on you, and the jeans look like a great fit.

I'm not loving that particular cardi-tee combination, even though I can see how a short-over-long silhouette is appealing -- something about the competing hems is chopping you up visually, or maybe it's the full sleeve with the detailed tee. Perhaps either the tee or the cardigan need to be simpler. The cardi is a beautiful color, but that's a lot of sleeve.

I agree with Janet, I think the thing that is 'off' is the tee/cardi combo - I love the cardigan but I think it needs a simpler, plainer 'base'.

Remember to keep first things first and have fun with fashion! I love to see you in a casual jean look, and love the fact that this outfit still carries some of your signature playful ladylike quality. The t has a lot of detail, so I think I would like it even better by itself, but I love the soft but saturated color in the shrug, and I imagine it was keeping your warm, too!
The jeans are relaxed in silhouette, and suited to a faded color -- let 'em get a little old and RATE, and enjoy!

Not to mention that volunteering and making your community a little richer is always fab in my book!

This is a great casual outfit and you look terrific in jeans! I love the shape of the hem on your T-shirt. I love the cardi, too, although I'm careful with shirred sleeve because of my broad shoulders. It suits you though. So, I have to ask: what are *pumps* in England? In the US a pump is what *you* would call a court shoe. Your footwear looks like a tennis shoe to me, which I guess is made for another kind of court entirely! When I was reading your post, I was thinking, "Well, kudos to her for working a senior cafe in heels!" Your actual footwear choice was practical and perfect, IMO. And your vest is the underlayer, right? Like a cami. Ok, got it! We almost needed a translator there for a minute, lol.

Wow, thanks ladies! I've hesitated to post casual pics because I didn't think I looked any good in jeans so thanks for the thumbs up! Looking at the pictures I can totally see the cardi isn't quite right with this particular t-shirt. I'll try pairing it with something simpler next time out.

Claire, we do need a translator! Yes, what I call pumps are your tennis shoes & your pumps are what we call court shoes in the UK. The vest is a cami - it took me ages to figure out a few of the terms on YLF when I first joined!

I think the cardi works but would really pop with a shoe in the same shade or similar to bookend it. I am a blue fan so go for it!
