WIW - Unsuccessful Outfit - updated

Not feeling the fashion pizazz today. I blame headache - actual and metaphorical. I got up and was just, "I'll wear that and that, bah!"

Hard to see because of all the black - but I'm wearing black trousers with white stripe, handkerchief sweater tunic (leather in the back), black patent flats, and my trusty trouser socks.

I think the problems are these:

- the sweater is too fine gauge for the trousers
- the white stripe is like a big arrow to the handkerchief points, which are right around the hips; and the result is a sort of Tweedle Dee.
- the flats are too flat

I think:
- the sweater should be reserved for leather pants (if I had any) and skinnies and pencil skirts.
- I should stick to blousy tops with the trousers
- It's time to dust off the trusty court shoes with low block heels (if I refuse to wear heels)

Thoughts on this analysis?

Also: I need to do something about my hair but need to find a place to get my haircut and am dreading the work of the search...

Ah, ok I see some of what you mean but I don't think this is a fail. I do have a somewhat severe poison eye for plain, black flats that are not pointy so I'm totally jaded there. I think the sweater is all sorts of awesome and so are the pants.

Hearing your concerns, though, I understand why you might feel uncomfortable in it. FWIW, I still like it - I think sometimes the eye has to adjust to a new silhouette. I think you can pull it off because of your slim ankles, wrists, and neck.

You guys are right about the shoes. Pointy flats esp. would have helped a lot. Duh! Have to go to dinner tonight. I'm going to switch out shoes. (Too lazy and cold for a different sweater though.)

I quite like it! I love flats though, but if you changed the shoes then you might like the outfit more. It's a great outfit to my eye though!

Yep, just pop some booties and you are good to go!

Actually I think the only thing needed to make this great is a change of shoe -- I agree with Zap that booties are the way to go.

I like everything about this except the shoes -- I don't see Tweedledee at all.

Another vote for liking this. I think the tunic is long enough that the points end well below the hip and thus the white stripe doesnt over-emphasize there. On the bandwagon of liking the idea of a bit more trendy shoe here.

In anticipation of having to walk far, I did pointy shoes tonite and! actually carried a purse. Had to change sweaters because Lilypup the dog attacked me with her fur. Need to get pics when I get home.

But I can't believe this. My friend here has stood me up. I'm eating one expensive meal alone! She's irritating me this week. Sent me 100 text message in a day. It didn't seem like that much until I got an alert! Argh!

Well I admit the food is good. But it's coffee next time!

Well, I had to come back and document that my friend did NOT stand me up. I finished eating, paid my bill, walked toward the door - and there she was at the bar finishing her own meal!

Argh! That is the second time we've tried and failed to dine together at this restaurant. There is always some logistical snafu at this place.

Anyways: Pic of what I actually wore. I realize the clutch can't really be seen... another drat. Such a rarity for me to carry a purse, esp. a clutch. Not much occasion for them. But my main point of this is that I really do like the pointy flat idea.
