WIW - Uhura ponytail

We watched Star Trek (the Chris Pine version) last night and I was enchanted by Uhura's ponytail. So I tried it here, for all my fellow nerds and nerdettes, and in honor of the new sci-fi trend. The rest of my outfit is sadly not futuristic, with the exception of my dilithium crystal necklace. I call it "Starfleet Cadet lounge wear."

Very fun! I always end up cursing trying to wrap my ponytails (well, I did when I had long hair), so that part definitely impresses me.

Oh lovely! I loved that movie and had a crush on Zoe Saldana's/Uhura's ponytail. Not as big as my crush on Kristen Stewart's hair in the Twilight movies! Sadly, I find long hair too much work.

Sunita - I googled the Twilight hair for Kirsten and yeaaaaahhhhh! However I have very little patience for fancy do's and usually just end up in a ponytail, my all-time favorite.

Just an update - by about noon, my scalp was killing me, so I released my hair from its bondage and am now in a regular pony. Sigh, I guess I'm just an Uhura wannabe.

But I quest on, looking for the next geeky fashion, and when I find it, you will all be the first ones to know! Warp speed, Mr. Sulu!

Rae I didn't see your reply till now - thank you! Us cadettes have to lounge too, but who says we can't look good doing it? I warn you tho, my scalp still hurts a little and I took this down almost 3 hrs ago. Ah well, what price beauty? It was worth it.

Yeah, my scalp hurts even from regular pony tails these days - I thought it was just me! We must just have thick luxurious hair that cannot be contained.

LOVE Uhura in both TOS and JJ's versions - and I must say your pony tail is terribly cute! I don't have long hair, so I guess I'll have to find some lime green hoops?

Love you hair, and can I add a lot of love for your sandals too? very cool colourblocking, which is so unexpectedly fun with the dainty floral T. somehow the different vibes gel really well and give each other an extra fillip.

How fun!! I just lopped all my hair off but frequently wore a high pony before that, and did this from time to time. I'm impressed with your wrapping, it's very neat! I suppose having thin hair has its advantages (no high pony headaches). Was it the wrap or the hair that gave you the headache? I'm sure you could do this cool wrap with a mid-height pony, would still give you the cool sci-fi look.

Aida - thanks for the idea on the lower pony with wrap. It was the high pony that caused the scalp agony, not the wrap, and it lasted all night and is still a bit tender today! Sheesh! My hair is thin too but I have a lot of it, so there was some definite pullling on the poor follicles, and thus they rebelled!
