Yesterday was a very long and full day, but truly appreciated as neither of these events would have been possible last year at this time due to Covid restrictions.

In the morning/early afternoon I attended the memorial service and reception for a dear friend’s father-in-law, who I was also lucky enough to know and work with. He and his wife passed away within a couple months of one another, so the memorial was really for both of them. My friend said she had held back tears until she saw me come in and then emotion finally gave in, so I’m so very glad I could be there for her. Her FIL was a creative force in the world of advertising and I bet that most of you have seen at least some of his work at some point in your life: for instance, “How many licks does it take to get to the middle of a Tootsie Roll pop?” It was a very nice service and I saw some old friends I hadn’t seen in decades, and drove past my childhood home, as we lived only about a half mile away from his family’s home. A bit of an emotional day.

Anyway, my outfit for a hot but not humid day was this WH/BM dress from several years ago that I’ve had in and out of the holding zone. This occasion reminded me that this dress is a good one to hang onto for such events, even though I don’t wear it often. In fact, I don’t think I’d worn it in three years before yesterday so clearly I don’t subscribe to the “toss it if you haven’t worn it in a year” idea. Worn with very old but still beloved LDTuttle sandals and Rebecca Minkoff crossbody.

Later in the day, I attended another friend’s birthday barbecue and it was lovely. The weather actually cooled off a bit as the sun went down, but it was pleasant even in a tank top. I ate entirely too much but it was fun. GoSilk marble print tank, Jag shorts, Sofft sandals, and new Geiger gunmetal crossbody bag from NAS made its debut.

Today I rest after all that! And do some long neglected tasks at home. Hope you all are having a good weekend.
