Dear YLF,

This Fall / winter season I am trying to come up with easy formulas to dress that go beyond dress+ leggings.
For my casual lifestyle I want something that looks effortless but is still polished.
I also been very happy with BR selection of blouses this season and bought some of the more relaxed fit of the button down shirts.
I am just wondering if this is too effortless.
I am not a big fan of accessories besides watches and scarves for my day to day life but maybe there is something that I am missing here? Maybe I am just being paranoid.

I really like that shirt! Pretty. I do not think this outfit is "too effortless", but my eye is missing some of the details of the BR photo that make it successful, IMO--the half-tuck and a bit more contrast between the shirt and the pants. Playing around with those things might spice-up the outfit.

Emily I kept thinking during the day about the half tuck. I just felt that I have done it so much in the last year that I wanted something different.

Your phone is covering up the neckline... are you wearing it as open as the BR model? I think just that detail being obscured might make a difference.

laughing at your concern about "too effortless" dressing. this is my holy grail.

the shirt's all over print acts like its own accessory then you have your lovely dainty earring and the bow on your shoe. i think it's great. if you wanted to prink it up, a dainty necklace into the open neckline would be super. do you wear necklaces?

the sleeves conceal the watch, but if you push up the sleeves, boom, another accessory.

I think you look great. As bj1111 just said, the pattern in the shirt adds its own interest to the outfit and acts like an accessory.

Jenn- yes I usually wear my button downs that open. I feel that it creates a more feminine look, and I happen to like my neckline
bj1111- I usually don't wear necklaces but I should try. Good point about the sleeves although I don't know if the material of the shirt will hold the cuff.

It looks good though I agree, there is something missing. It could use a bit more styling. I know you wanted to do something aside from semituck, but I think this outfit could greatly benefit from it since the top and bottom are the same color value.

I think it looks really nice. You could try dark or bright shoes for added contrast and maybe a bright lipcolor just to change it up a little. Do you know how to do the Jenna roll on the sleeves?

I think you look great, but I think something with a shoe or necklace (or the half tuck, like the picture) could add a little more oomph. Sometimes I pin up a sleeve roll to keep it in place.

Lovely shirt. I understand your feeling! Especially since I tend NOT to wear jackets which means I usually have to look for visual interest in different places; color, pattern, texture, and garment cut make the most difference. As others have said this shirt provides plenty of interest on its own with the colorful and busy print. If I were to wear this outfit I would tuck and maybe add a belt to create a little more visual interest and structure, and then pop on some big glam earrings. If you feel like you need to add something, go for it. If not this is a casually minimally fab look as-is.

If I'm doing a shirt and pants look that seems to want a wee bit more, I tie a square scarf around my neck, bandanna or stewardess style. With this shirt I would pick a toning solid colour.

I love it all and it's not too casual. If you wore sneakers or different bag then it would be, but to my eye, the bag and the shoes lift it to another level. I totally dig this outfit and it's exactly where I want to see my casual capsule, so thanks for the visual.
