The State Fair opened on Friday and the weather has been unseasonably cool, only 84F so I decided to make a pilgrimage. I have not been for at least 20 years and I had a blast. I just wandered and took it slow. I first hit the mandatory county displays, then the sales buildings. I got thirsty and could only find soda and beer which I do not drink. So, I headed for the best thing I could think of, the bar at the race track. I sat and refreshed myself with a margarita and since the bar was closing because the races were over, ( it was only 7 PM) they gave another one in a to go cup. Next stop was the barn area. This took me back to my days working at B of A in Susanville cutting checks for the 4 H'ers. Next I found a really good blues band to listen to while I ate and did some dancing. I took the Gondola to check out all the pretty lights at the carnival area where I rode the Ferris wheel and a roller coaster. I finished the night off with a chocolate dipped frozen banana on my way out the gates. Going by yourself is so much fun because you can do what you want when you want.
