WIW - to church today

This outfit makes me very happy, and usually gets me a lot of compliments. The top was the first medium I had bought in a good 30 years and I was thrilled when I was able to wear it for a second summer. Do you think I could get away with it in the colder months? I have a teal cardigan and with dark wash jeans? Or does it scream summer too loudly?

The jewelry (gold earrings and freshwater pearl necklace) are both gifts from years back. I didn't think to take a picture. I also had a rust-coloured pashmina with me in case the A/C was too much at church. It was.

Really nice! The print on the top is really nice and I like the draped skirt too. So happy for your weight loss and that this top could be with you this summer too. Yes I can definately see this with a teal cardi and dark wash jeans. Burgundy or maroon would also be nice (and on trend for fall), IMO. Let's see what other have to say

You look great JR. I don't think it's too summery to wear in the fall. To me those are a bright version of fall colors. I love the cardigan too, wear it often!

JR this is a lovely outfit. The colors of the top are beautiful and could definitely carry you through Fall. I would be interested to see this top tucked into this skirt as I suspect it would create a very feminine silhouette. (this looks feminine but tucked would create a lovely shape too).

I think the top and skirt would look great with an earthy green/ pine green structured jacket for Fall. Love those colors on you!. I'm not a fan of the cardigan though...something about the sleeves.

JR, You look really great!! Très chic! And you do realise, I hope, what nice legs you've got?? That skirt length is perfect, cos it shows them off!! The colours will be great for autumn, too. Maybe you could add a waterfall cardie (useful amd very trendy right now), or a toning jacket for some Autumn warmth? Good for you!:-)

That's a lovely blouse and I can see why it makes you happy. Your teal cardigan would be a perfect pairing with the blouse and, yes, you can take this into the autumn with darker jackets, in green, orange, brown, etc.

I honestly never thought of tucking the top. I will have to try this. It would be problematic with this skirt though. The skirt is rather cheap and has no interfacing in the flat waistband, which makes it roll and sag. Strange they left that out, seeing as it is fully lined. Anyway, I like the skirt well enough that I am considering breaking out my long-dormant sewing skills and adding the interfacing myself. But again, I'll probably wait until I've reached my goal weight and take it in while I'm at it. It's a polyester microfibre, so very easy to launder and maintain, and very comfortable. It would be worth the effort, even if it's a discount brand and I got it off a clearance rack on top of it all.

LaF, hubby has told me that and I'm almost ready to start believing him. We've been married over 30 years now, and trust me, you forgive your husband a lot of things when he keeps telling you how beautiful you are and explaining it in detail, LOL! I do think he's slightly insane, but I hope the condition is incurable.

Very nice. Despite what you say about the skirt construction, it is a flattering shape with the drape. That top could easily move into fall with rust and/or chocolate accompaniments. You look great!

Your DH sounds so sweet! He needs to hang out with mine so yours can rub off on him. I have to leave my hubby notes reminding him to compliment me (which he reads verbatim in a dull monotone, lol)! Maybe that's why I love YLF so much.

Now to business! I think this outfit is very figure flattering and I can see why you get lots of compliments on it. My first thought was to try tucking in the top too, so show the pretty draping on the shirt. I never thought to add interfacing to a ready made garment. You can bet I'm making notes! You look great, you have fantastic legs and yes, that sweater could easily bridge into fall.

Thanks, cjh. The shape of it is exactly why I bought it. How often do you see a soft drape that doesn't add much volume? And it was done so simply, I could probably copy the pattern with newsprint and make it myself, even if I'm not a very experienced seamstress. Now all I have to do is get the sewing machine fixed...

Anyway you look fab and with such a pretty top and with such pretty colors I would surely wear it all the time ... Come summer or winter... I am too much of a color person ...
This top would surely fit in anywhere

I really like the outfit a lot and I agree it will work with rust or earth tones (sweaters or jackets)in the fall. If you don't want to tuck you could try belting over the top but under the cardi.

Lovely fit. I like the outfit better without the light-colored sweater. Have you thought about a deeper colored sweater for fall?
