WIW - to a wedding and traveling

I headed back to the US from Calgary last weekend for a friend's wedding and to be able to spend some time with friends/family for Thanksgiving. The invitation said the wedding colors were red and grey and that "matching the theme is preferred." I'd never seen this kind of request before, but the wallpaper where the ceremony was held was a bright red and white paisley, so it made sense when we got there - everything else would have clashed!

1) Wedding attire: Banana Republic dress with built-in neckline bling, Vaneli red patent kitten heels in a nod to the wedding colors. My husband (and most of the other men) wore red ties.

And a few casual outfits to round out the trip so far (I tend to pack pretty casually when not travelling for work):
2) Casual outfit for travelling day of the wedding: Gap boyfriend jeans and tee, Kate Spade bag, Converse.
3) Another casual outfit. Loft cardigan and tank (I miss this store in Calgary!), Lucky brand straight leg jeans, Naturalier boots.
4) Non-puffer based outwear! Another thing I've missed in Calgary lately. JCrew wool coat and scarf worn over outfit 3.

Thanks Tracina! My only regret about short hair is not doing it sooner.

And thanks Ceit! The bag was a Christmas gift from my husband last year.

Love your wedding outfit! One of my cousins got married last month and requested everyone wear white or cream (she wore a black dress as she's goth), which I thought was a bit odd. I couldn't make it to the ceremony though so I don't know how many complied!

The polka dots on your tank are so fun and those Naturaliser boots are adorable. What a beautiful purple coat too: too bad you can't wear it more often! I'm beginning to realise I might need a puffer for when I move north, although I made it through 4 Midwest winters in just wool coats. We'll see!

E, thanks! You're clearly made of stronger stuff than I. I had bought a puffer back when I lived in Pennsylvania because I couldn't even handle the cold there.

Hestonian, thanks so much and good luck with your packing! I hate travelling with too much luggage, so I try really hard not to overpack, but I also like variety, so it's difficult. I hope your travels go well!

Rachylou, I understand about the orange. It's definitely outside of my normal color palette, but I was mostly attracted to it because it's so different from my usual purples and teals, if that makes sense?

That's an interesting dress code request, but I guess it all panned out. I might have gotten huffy if it required me to go out and buy something new, but it sounds like you and DH were all set. Love the BR dress on you! And add me to your blue bag's list of admirers.

Claire, I actually did buy this dress, but on sale and with gift cards, so I didn't mind so much. And my old LBD might have worked but I think is a bit too big nowadays, so I figured it was probably a good long-term purchase.

And judging by everyone's response to the first couple of looks, it sounds like I made a good decision to start toning down my wardrobe, color-wise, over the last year.
