WIW - the "track pants" stripe jeans and houndstooth

Well, I tried this with my red moto jacket and felt like I was about to enter the bullfighting ring... so I wore this blue Esprit velvet blazer instead. It also worked with my green leather jacket.

Since this houndstooth blouse is so drapey, the neckline sat better when I buttoned it all the way up, and I added a necklace for a bit of a collar effect. Simple black booties, black belt and black purse. I think I'm going to try these pants with oxfords next time I wear them.

What do you think of the black placket on the shirt? At first I wasn't sure whether it was too much vertical line-age, but I kind of like it for the graphic quality.

Is this the VC houndstooth blouse? If so, I have it and also find it works best buttoned up when wearing a jacket.

I think this works - you have kept the colour scheme to a minimum which I think is a good idea since you already have visual interest in the shirt and pants; love blue with black; your footwear and handbag work with the outfit rather than compete with it.

Nothing like velvet to counteract the track pants vibe. :o) I think that is a good way to make these look like tuxedo pants instead of jogging pants. Good job.

I love this, especially with that lovely blue jacket! And I like the repeated vertical lines in black and white. I had this blouse and found it worked better buttoned all the way up, too. I ended up returning it because it was defective - the shirt fabric separated from the button placket. Too bad. I liked it. I just didn't feel like trying another one. It looks terrific on you!

Jamie, my shirt had a defect too! I took it to Nordstrom and their alterations department repaired it so well I can't even tell there was ever a problem.

Love the blue velvet jacket in contrast to the graphic feel of the pants. I have some JBrands skinnies with suede stripes down the side that I've never worn. This outfit gives me some great ideas!

They look like tuxedo pants! This is fun - it reminds me of a look I wore to the WritersFest for an event, with the black placket shirt that Shevia sent me and my Doc Saras. It was a lot of look (as this is) but definitely fun!!

I meant to add back when I first posted this, that pairing these pants with my green leather moto made me feel a little like a race car driver. Not necessarily a bad thing! I might have to break out that look this week.

I think you've done a great job of removing the track pant vibe in this outfit. Track pants wouldn't have come to mind at all if I hadn't seen your other post. These look like tuxedo pants with the dressy jacket and shoes.
