WIW - The skirt that gets "that look".

This is an Eileen Fisher skirt that I got in the beginning of summer. I didn't realize the skirt came in petites and wish I would have gotten a petite but it sold out quickly. I may shorten it but not sure. I love bustles for some unknown reason so this skirt makes me very happy. However, whenever I wear it I get "that look". Do you know that look that you get when people aren't sure if you meant to wear your clothes that way? I think maybe they wonder if my skirt is supposed to look all bunched up and they are a bit confused. I just giggle to myself whenever it happens. Do you think it looks too weird?
Pics #1 & 3 are how I wore it on vacation. The hat is for sun protection and when I saw it had a citron band I thought it would be my nod to Angie. I am not really a hat wearer so this is new for me. I have fancier sandals but chose Birks for miles and miles of urban walking. (close your eyes if you can't do Birks). Pic #2 is with a slightly more fitted tee. (Sorry about pic order. My Mac is in the shop and I am trying to use old slow PC).

I think it's a statement making skirt which is why you get the looks? I would do a double take if I saw you on the street too :). I think its pretty the way you have styled it and the hat keeps with the boho theme of the skirt. Nicely done

Jeanie, I like how you've styled the skirt--it's so chic and casual with the tee and Birks. I have a similar one that I made, inspired by this design, and I find it's fun to wear. I doubt people are thinking there's anything amiss--I imagine they are just admiring how great you look.

Jeanie, I like the proportion this way, as you've styled it. The look is beachy and boho at this maxi length. You could shorten it, too, though, and perhaps it would be more versatile. I'd try pinning it up first to see what it looks like.

If I saw this in person, I imagine I'd have a second look because of its cool shape - one that I don't often see in skirts - and perhaps it has a great sense of movement when you walk, too! It looks lovely on you.

Wow -- I LOVE the skirt, and you look amazing in it. Fantabulous! The look is because the skirt is unusual, so it makes people curious. Frowny boring people might want you to dress the way they themselves do instead but I for one think it would be a great shame if you were to allow any negative looks or comments to make you stick to less interesting attire. If I saw you in the street I'd be delighted and want to meet you.

I personally love the length exactly as it is on you. I worry that shortening it might make the proportions less perfect, and to me the length looks so now.

i actually think the length of this skirt is perfect, imo, the longer length suits the total feel. i like the way you have styled it with a simple tee, it lets the skirt be the star.

It looks like a perfect skirt for walking in the summer. And I like the way you are wearing it.

I agree with Firecracker -- pinning it up to compare lengths and see how you feel is the best way to decide whether or not to shorten it.

I can imagine it a bit shorter, but it's hard to say in theory.

As for the people who give you looks, they are probably wondering where they can get one just like it.

Oh yes, the gawp, the skirt is a statement piece and will attract glances.

I personally love the tea length of the skirt and the crinoline petticoat effect. I also like your casual styling, have you tried the skirt with a white tank?

Well, I for one would stare because your skirt is so cool! I seriously considered buying it, actually, but ultimately decided not to because I decided I didn't need another white or black skirt. I know what you mean about EF running too long - usually I need a petite - but I actually like the longer length here.

Thanks all for the skirt love. I guess I am not used to wearing a statement piece. I just love it and it feels very me. Sounds like most are good with the length so I will keep as is. Hugs to all.
