WIW - Stumpifying

It's been a while since I've worn anything remotely interesting, so I thought I'd show you this "stumpifying" outfit. I would have preferred a lower contrast between pants and boots, but I didn't want to wear slouchy pants underneath the dress. Does it look alright?

Oh and I have an appointment for the hair for next Wednesday! Can't wait.

I actually don't think it's particularly stumpifying - your legs are long enough to carry this off. Pretty dress!

Thanks! I don't have long legs though, I can wear regular cropped pants as full length ones most of the time (being borderline petite). But of course I'm happy when it looks that way. The dress is hand-me-down from my mum.

That is such a cool dress!! Is it printed or embroidered? It's cool that it's a hand-me-down because that sort of pattern looks very current right now.

I think it works. In warmer weather you could do the same combo but with flats or pumps to elongate your legs - or oxfords or low ankle boots. Or red tights instead of pants? You're right that the boot/pant combo does feel a tiny bit stumpifying here but it's still an awesome outfit and I like the dress over pants effect.

I love that dress! I haven't seen it in awhile and it looks terrific in this iteration. I don't think it looks stumpifying at all. If anything, it makes your legs look longer.

Thanks Greyscale! It's printed. Very comfortable cotton that doesn't crease, it's perfect in summer even though it is black. My mum bought it in Portugal when she was seventeen. And yes, I've worn this dress with tights and oxfords or ballet flats before.

Thanks Kelly! You're right, I haven't worn it as much lately. But I still love it, even though I'm thinking about altering the pleats. Should have had that done a long time ago. It's just too "babydoll" for my figure.

Love that dress. Actually, the proportions work to my eye. I don't see stumpy at all.
I just made a hair appointment and I also can't wait. I think it's probably wearing a hat all the time though that is making me think I need a haircut

Beautiful dress! I will admit I would partial to black leggings underneath, but the red is fun and unexpected! (And not stumpifying, just not what I had expected).

Thanks Scarlet! The hat wearing is definitely a factor. Do you go for a bigger change, or just some small adjustments?

Thanks Thistle! Yes, black leggings would have been the most flattering, I agree. I think the pants go well with it because the color of the pants repeats in the pattern of the dress (it's more visible IRL).

Love the dress and how you styled it! Not stumpifying at all, but then I'm not focused on leg lengthening looks myself (I already have short legs, both literally and proportionally, and often cuff my trousers or add lots of horizontal breaks, and feel good. hehe)

I don't think the outfit looks stumpifying. But I suppose it would help to see a pic of the same outfit but with black leggings for comparison.

The dress is very pretty! I love the design work on it.

Hi Astrid, for myself I just think it needs some lightening up and reshaping around my face. I have grown out my fringe, and it is at an awkward length where I tend to push it behind my ears. Add to that I have been using a middle part lately, and the effect is quite stodgy. If I had more time to style my hair and not let it get flattened by a hat it wouldn't be so bad, but a good haircut does a lot of the work for me. Let's hope we both get good haircuts

Well, as you can imagine, my eye is trained culturally to see these dress over pants proportions as the usual.

So to me this looks like a fresh and unexpected version of Angie's formula shown the other day. Love the green scarf to provide contrast and bring the eye back up from the unusual choice of pants! V fab.
