WIW - speaking of color - YouLookFab Forum

As if to illustrate some of the points of today's post, here are my more of less colorful outfits from the last week.
1. Featuring a relatively new to me vintage tapestry bag by John Romain. I am not a tapestry bag person but this one attracted me right away.

2. Featuring colorful striped sweater by Louis Feraud. It is pure wool and has not pilled at all in the several years I have owned it or the years someone else owned it before that. Also the jeans are too big, but I still like them. Will have them taken in a bit.

3. Inspired by Angie's new jeans I pulled out my extra long thrifted J Crew jeans that I wear with a big cuff. Decided to take my thrifted Frye oxfords out for a change.

4. Then I got a little crazy because I recently found this sleeveless jacket/vest by the brand Clu at a consignment shop for an almost thrift store price ($10). A quick google check showed me that the LA brand is very pricey so I thought I would take a chance with this piece and if it doesn't work out re-sell it. I am not thrilled with this attempt, but styling suggestions welcome!

That blue color is #3 is STUNNING on you, Shevia! WOW! And, I love your caramel colored moto in #1. All are fab (as usual!)

Stripes, colours, fun toppers, vintage jeans - what's not to adore, especially since you throw it all together in a creative and intuitive way. Make it yours, and look soooooo comfortable and confident. DYOT at its best!

I can't keep my eyes off #1! The cool toned grey-haired gal rocking warm earth tones in an incredible Amelia Earhart/Punk way, with a hint of 19th century, and busloads of verve. KILLER to the Power of KILLER.

I have no idea how to style that vest but it sure is interesting. How does it look unzipped?

Angie is spot on with the Amelia Earhart reference for the first one! I love all these, but especially the stripes, of course. The vest is certainly interesting and I too wonder about unzipping it.

Shevia, you can do no wrong. I love the playfulness here. Try the sleeveless jacket worn open. I can see it with a summer little black sleeveless dress for a black/navy mix. I like to wear sleeveless jackets best with a sleeveless top. You could add a light weight black and blue scarf, but they are hard to find. Maybe a black bandana would do.

I actually really like 4 as is. You could probably pull it off over a skirt too.

Wow, you really give a new life to that textile handbag! It looks so fresh in your outfit. #3 looks fantastic. The raincoat is a stunner, and that shade of blue loves you very much. Great style!

I love 1 and 2 especially - the colours are fab on you.

I think I would also try the best unzipped. I like it with the striped top - maybe ankle length jeans of pants might work for a little structure? I could also see it with a dress and boots? Fun piece to experiment with.

The blue suits you well too.

Love #1 and 3. The sleeveless vest in #4 is intriguing, I can see why you wanted it. It looks tunic-like, so at first I thought it might go over leggings or skinny jeans. But it might be too bell-shaped. I agree with the Amelia Earhart reference!

Agree that #1 it total killer and you look amazing in blue. Those Frye shoes are fabulous! I find that it is SO hard to find a great pair of shoes or boots in that shade of brown (that meet all my other foot criteria too!).

Not sure what to suggest for the vest beyond what others have already put forward. I'd probably wear it open over a column of black. (I'm predictable that way.) Admittedly that takes some away from the vest's ability to keep cold off your torso.

Is that the MOto jacket you thrifted in #1? That color is so Luscious - lucky you!!

Also, that sweater is so crisp and graphic - adore it. You carry off stripes so well.

And I agree with the others that the blue really suits you...I think you look great in both warm and cool colors (in fact, noticing how great your warm complexion looked while having cooler colored hair convinced me to go silver!)

And I agree - Keeting that vest open will help you balance proportions. Maybe with a hip length tunic and leggings?

Angie - You made my day with the Amelia Earhart reference. I knew I was channeling someone and it makes total sense that it was her (I actually did a university paper on her a long time ago). And yes, it is a bit surprising to me that warm colors are working after a life time of thinking I am a pure "winter". Thank you so much for your kind comments!

Roxanna - This moto was also thrifted, but the most recent one is black (I only have these two). Actually, if I am not mistaken everything I am wearing in all of these is second hand .
