WIW - some new items, not sure about this color on me

I tried out a new top and my new jeans today. Part of the haul of clothes I got to restock my wardrobe after my post pregnancy purge. So new Helmut jeans and a Joie silk top I scored on Ebay. I love the idea of this color, and I don't do much color. But not sure if it suits me? It definitely works better with jeans though. I first had it on with black pants and it was just washing me out. I think I can handle it with jeans though. What do you think?

And the boots and jacket are from many seasons ago - Rudsak in Montreal.

I know what you mean by "liking the idea" of a certain colour or style. Sometimes the reality doesn't live up to the idea - but in your case it does! What about this blouse with those fab tuxedo type trousers from your ginormous haul? Nice over-sized watch to round things out?

The golden color definitely works for you. You glow. I was also going to suggest a cami because your jeans show through the top.

Yah I probably do need a cami to hide the jeans. I went and looked today, and it seems like they don't make any that are just smooth...they're all frilly and lacy. I'm still looking.

Merwoman - I originally tried them on with the black tux pants and that's what I thought looked bad. But they may go well with the grey pants with the black tux stripe...I shall try that combo.

As other mentioned - would pop a fitted white cami under the blouse - it will keep it all one line and probably make the color stand out even more. Love that color, and that color on you. I think this color could be almost a faux neutral and be worn wtih a million other colors - blue, green, fushia, pale pink, etc. It looks great with the medium blue denim but I can see how the high-contrast with black might be a littel to much. Maybe try with Navy trousers? Not sure about grey.

I am going to be the one spanner here. Or partial spanner. I love this mustard colour. And I think you can carry it off. So if you enjoy it, I say keep the top. However, I think you look even better in the grey, so I suspect you look your absolute best in cooler tones.

I still think the top is worth keeping because it is so much fun and will brighten your life!

Thanks Suz. I do like the top, and guess what, I can top it with a dark grey cardi and then it's not so much mustard, and you're right, the grey looks good. I do tend to gravitate to the cool colors, so it must be my subconscious knowing they suit me. I have very little color though, so this ones a keeper!

Love these you gorgeous thing. I also thought about adding a cami but it might not be necessary, sometimes it's just the flash that makes things see through. Maybe wear one untucked like Angie says, to be safe?

I like to wear a cami that blends with my pants quite often, to prevent that line at the waist. There are plain camis out there. Jockey often has some, for instance.

Yes a baby 5 months ago. I have to say I'm very lucky at both times I snapped back easily. I had 9lb monsters though, so they took off a lot of the weight through the birth and breast feeding!

JR - great point! I never thought of putting a dark camp under, I just tried white, which still shows the jeans. I have a med grey I think would work well.
