Here are a few recent WIWs ... I am trying to just wear what makes me happy develop the guidelines later (although I am working with casual Kate as my style moniker as of today!) I really liked 4 (vest and plaid scarf), the gray crew neck and jeans (5) looks plain in the photo, but it also felt pretty good on (I wore black Hunter wellies with it due to weather). The burgundy sweater I really love, but I was craving a bit of contrast and could quite get it happening in a way I was happy with with the scarves, so I dumped them and and happier without it, again despite the plain-ness! Wellies again due to weather; my striped socks are more interesting! Feedback always welcome; thanks for looking

I love all of your outfits. Of the two scarves, I like the blue in #2. My favorite outfit is #4. You look casual, elegant and ready to take on the day, despite the weather.

Is the scarf in #1 blush or cream? Either way, yes, nice contrast with the burgundy. LOVE the vest + plaid combo.

Mainelady, I agree with both your comments. The weather is always the challenge, isn't it?
LaPed, the scarf is a very pale pink, a little cooler than blush I would say, but close to a blush.

On reflection, I think the scarf would have been a better addition to the ultra-plain gray, as the burgundy at least lends color-flattery (imo!) to the outfit. Note to self - experiment with incorporating either pattern or color, rather than uber-plain AND neutral in the same outfit.

They say simple isn’t easy...but you make it look effortless.
These are all great outfits. I think what really makes them is the perfect proportions. I’m in awe.
I also have to give a shout out to that blue scarf in pic 3. The brushstroke print somehow echoes the texture of your hair in a very pleasing way, and I love the complementary pairing of the blue and rusty orange.

Your outfits really suit you. Yes they are uncluttered but that look is quite classy and refined. Also everything fits you so well! I like the lace up grey boots. I also like the contrast between the burgundy sweater with the blue scarf, but I understand that your eye may prefer a really sleek streamlined look, and that’s working for you. Maybe you could try various colored combinations of sweaters with different plaid scarves?

Nice! I like both the scarves in your first outfit but the blue one a bit better. The scarf and vest combo is a good one for you and sounds perfect for the weather as well.

Casual Kate is perfect! I really like the navy/white scarf with the burgundy and it would be great with the grey. My wardrobe is full of darker tones like burgundy and navy, and I am finding just a touch of a light color somewhere is appealing to my eye. And the navy picks up the jeans so well.

The blue scarf is great! I really like it with the burgundy sweater.
I often feel like removing my scarf and going “plain” too.
At first I was skeptical of Hunter Wellies because who needs rainboots that large and tall?! But they look so CUTE a waxed canvas coat. And they’re actually practical in winter, go figure.
