Hi friends, happy Friday! The last two randomly selected outfits (one by throw of dice, the other by my daughter) to complete the week. From this little experiment I've learned a few valuable things:

  • uniform dressing can provide plenty (for me personally) of variety - none of these outfits feel like repeats (again, to me) even though the formula is virtually identical and the types of pieces not particularly varied.
  • every year I get the winter style blues, and I think part of it at least is because the categories of clothing I have to choose from diminishes (e.g., I almost never wear my fluid blouses or t-shirt because they are too cold, I don't switch out my jeans, and I am limited on snow-appropriate footwear and coats); therefore, I can't mix it up. I'll attend to this as we move later in the year, with a view to my Jan - Mar 'deep winter' capsule. I'm thinking categories such as "chunky knit" and "elevated/fashion sweatshirt" might be good replacement top categories for blouses and t-shirt to start building, and outerwear in a different colour or style (which I've talked about for several years but HATE spending money on) might be good ideas.
My last two outfits were as follows:
  • neutral sweater + moto skinnies + booties + necklace, and
  • fluid blouse + skinny jeans + booties + hoops
Both incorporated some form of green so based on Angie's trend report, I did alright

Speaking of 'green', I did some second-hand shopping today! A store called "Encore Style", which I think is owned by the same company as Play It Again Sports - they buy gently-used clothing, accessories, etc. (they use a formula so you won't make a fortune, but also no bargaining required) and curate well, so everything seemed really clean and in excellent condition, with a range of brands from Forever 21 right up to the higher end (LV, Jimmy Choo, etc.). I walked out with a new-to-me sweater AND $100 in my pocket from selling a few items, AND someone congratulated me on helping the environment to boot, so all in all, a good shopping experience! It was hard for me to leave behind a Club Monaco striped sweater and some nude Cole Haan heels that were in pristine condition. I would definitely start there the next time I'm in need of something.

Sorry for the long post; enjoy the weekend all! xx
