I've posted this outfit before, but I am trying to be a bit more honest with myself as to what I am wearing. FFBO are just a fact of life for me. DD was up all night last night, and while I was up early with her, there was simply no creativity.

I have tried other tops with this skirt, but I default back to ink blue. I just didn't like white or a color with it. Perhaps that makes the skirt less versatile, but it still gets worn every few weeks. The white sandals, however, have been workhorses for me.

I need to sit down and try to put together new and fresh outfits, but I just haven't been able to find the time.

I know the feeling but have to tell you that in your case the feeling of just 'grabbing' something in the morning doesn't translate into the outfit.
This is such a perfect outfit in every way.
You look fab.

Yes, I agree, nothing wrong with a FFBO! You know it works, you know you look great in it, it's grab and go. I think you need just to have FFBOs so that then you have room to experiment with new things. It isn't always that we have time to play in the closet.

I also repeat all the time and this looks great, so why not? If you DO want to change it up, but not go too far away from this tried and true version, maybe just a different navy top in a slightly different silhouette or maybe if you love neutrals with it, a charcoal grey top might work. You could also try a different color belt and shoes to change it up.

My next step is capsules. I have a very hard time with capsules and mixing and matching. I wish I were better at that to get more mileage.

You put a lot of hard work into getting the pieces that form your FFBOs. We know this because we saw you buy & return a gazillion things, keeping only the 10s. That's HARD! And now, you get to sit back and relax a bit.
I got some new pants yesterday and played in my closet to confirm they worked. Came up with 4-5 outfits that are fine. But I know there will be one or two outfits that I end up preferring and I'm fine with that Now, ylf and the capsule concept did help me get to the point where the pieces I buy actually work in my wardrobe, which is everything.

If it works why change it? I love the high contrast belt. (shows off a tiny waist) I also love the print on the skirt. This is the first time I'm seeing this outfit and I love it. (Are we wearing glasses to hide the lack of sleep? ) YLF

Ha, Thistle, we have kids the same age and I feel your pain. I recently went to Sephora and bought undereye concealer for the first time in my life for the dark circles I have from about 2 years of sleep deprivation.

Anyway, about the outfit, I am ALL about FFBOs just like you. At this point in our lives we have to be that way. By having the FFBOs we free up our limited brain capacity for other things like caring for 2 year olds and oh yeah, work!

I remember seeing this skirt on you the first time and hopping over to Talbots to check it out, I kind of regret not getting it, it's that pretty on you. Your waist looks TINY and the white pops perfectly. I would not slight yourself, this looks fab.

You look beautiful in this. Some garments only ever feel right with a certain color or style partner. And that's fine. It's like this is your two piece dress. Couldn't be better.

This is one of my favorites! Feminine, but with a modern, graphic pattern and color palette. Being able to look great with no time is the reason you've invested time in building a wardrobe that works! That investment is paying dividends now! (That as close as I get to accountant-speak).

I love this outfit on you Thistle. It ticks all the boxes. You look smart and professional, it's flattering, modern and current:). I have periods where I totally lack creativity and I am very grateful for my FFBO. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Working and having a little one is n pressure enough some days. When it's perfect, don't change a thing! That's why it's a FFBO. I also like to wear my favorite version of my outfits and repeat them rather than remix just for the sake of remixing. LOVE this outfit, one of my all time faves on you! Hope you get more sleep. I can definitely sympathize (I'm posting this because I'm up at 3 am, LOL!)

There's nothing wrong with repeating an outfit that looks this great. In fact it would be a crime not to. I know people say this all the time, but cherish this time with your toddler, sleepless nights and all. In a few quick years you will wonder where the time went.

Looks great!
When you do get a moment's styling energy, I like Texstyle's idea of just tweaking the belt and shoes. That extends it to early fall or a cooler spring day but you've got the proportions down and have the FFBO comfort of a killer outfit.
