Hi there, inspired by many people's use of Pinterest (most recently this post), I have started a PInterest page called "My Actual Closet", that only features pieces I own (or have a reasonable approximation of).

I love this idea, especially for the way it foster gratitude rather than desire; what a great concept - to celebrate what you've got!!

So here's my Pinterest-inspired outfit with thanks to everyone for their "Pinspiration" (ba-dum-bum) ... ha ...

Me first, Pinterest is second. My shirt and jeans are AE, boots are Aldo, scarf is Walmart, charcoal tank (hard to see) is Rickis.

That's a really good idea! I sometimes pin things I own to keep track of them, but I don't do it consistently.

Love the outfit too! I actually like yours better than the Pinterest version. I think the wash on the shirt is more sophisticated, and everything just looks more cohesive without the white tank sticking out.

Thanks Aubergine - that was actually just a function of having no clean white tanks Glad to hear it worked!

It really is nice to gaze at a Pinterest board that you admire and think, I can wear ALL of these outfits

Great outfit! And the new pinterest strategy will work. I too pin only those outfits that I could possibly pull out from my own closet. And it has been a life saver during those times when I lack inspiration!

That's an excellent way to use Pinterest! I love your outfit too (like Aubergine I prefer it to the original).

Thirding that I think you look better than the original. The subtleness of the charcoal tank is great, as is the grayish/pale wash on your shirt. I think your scarf is a more interesting/sophisticated take on the formula.

Your legs are as always, great, and choosing jeans over leggings while still keeping the sleek and slender works well.

Looks great! I also like it better without the white peeking through, a bit more streamlined. If your scarf had more white in it, and you had more white bits in some accessories, then I think it'd work quite well to add that white tank in (when they're clean, of course!).

Ok I spent a few hours getting on this bandwagon this weekend. I can definitely see the value of doing it as you shop because finding older stuff is tougher. I did get a bit of outfit inspiration while doing it. Glad I started while stuff is still online (some unworn spring purchases have already disappeared from the Internet!). It was also interesting to note some smaller brands that I buy at local boutiques over and over without really noticing because they don't have name-brand marketing (yumi, pink martini, lilibleu).

What a super idea for using Pinterest. I really like this! I might try this as well. I guess it is similar in a way to some of the Apps some of our members use (not that I know how to use any of those.)

And your outfit really is better than the original.
