This is an outfit I wore over the weekend for a seriously hot and humid day that included a lot of walking outside. There is nothing special about it, but it is important to me as it made get over many dressing hang ups.
The navy pinstripe shorts in the picture are new, and believe it or not, they are the first real shorts I have bought and worn in over 10 years! I would only wear bermuda ones that end right above the knee, as I would feel horribly self conscious in anything shorter. That is due to two reasons - having skinny " chicken" legs being one of them. The other one is that I was about 12, I went through a big growth spurt that left me with many stretch marks all over my thighs. They start right above the knee and become denser towards the hip. However, I am very pale and they are quite white so you can't really notice them unless you come really close, which I hope nobody would. So I mustered the courage, wore the shorts, and I do not think anyone fainted I would still never wear super short ones, but I think I can deal with this lebgth. I might even get a second pair.
Also, I have only recently started tucking in bottoms that are not high waisted, influenced by Angie's soft masculine outfit. I was convinced that silhouette would be really bad on my long torso/ short legs body and make me look like a duck. In this outfit I went a step further, and tucked a loose top into slouchy bottoms, as opposed to fitted ones that I have been previously doing.
Finally, my normal shoes for an outfit like this that shortens my legs would be some kind of nude wedge/heel, to elongate my leg line. Here though I went with sandals that are both flat and come high up on the ankle, as they are my most comfy ones.
So, I know that this is not the most flattering outfit on me, but can I get away with it? It was very comfy and right for the weather and I felt liberated
