I had Covid for a week after my sister visited — apparently she caught it on the plane ride here to visit my niece and me, and passed it along to us before we all knew that what she had wasn’t allergies!

After a week of isolating, even though I really only had symptoms like a head cold, I tested negative and got back out of the house yesterday to go to a local arts street festival, have a nice outdoor lunch, and attend an art show, where I bought a small piece that captured my attention (pic 4). It was a spectacular day in our lovely little town (pics 5-6), and I enjoyed walking all over. Well, mostly.

I wore my Maria Cornejo cropped denim pants, which I love in all seasons so far. I’ve been wanting to wear them with booties that are higher in the shaft and a very fitted ankle, so I was excited to debut them with these Gentle Souls brown boots I found. Unfortunately, after a couple of hours on my feet, they started rubbing on the outer edges of my pinky toes and were driving me to distraction by the time I drove home. Today there is a blister on one foot. I’m hoping maybe I can have them stretched? It was a mistake to wear such new boots for so much walking but they felt so comfortable at home I didn’t think twice. Sigh!

The outfit was super simple, color-wise. All neutrals. Black long sleeve tee with ruched sides that have ties at the hem (Splendid IIRC), and a very old convertible jacket by Calvin Klein that zips off at the waist and the sleeves to make a vest or a cropped jacket, or in this case, a cropped vest! I don’t wear this a ton, but sometimes it’s just the right layer and I’ll probably keep it forever (it’s easily 20 years old). I also carried a vintage purse I think I’ve had for 25 years — I had small loops put on it a few years ago so I could attach a strap and carry it crossbody. Again, not a piece I use a lot, but I enjoy it when I do!

Pic 3 is from my favorite booth at the arts festival — a jeweler who casts pieces from plants and items in nature — I loved this ginkgo leaf ring but it was a little too large for even my middle finger, so I’ll be staying in touch with them for when they make another one in a smaller size.
