WIW - OBG #3

Well, I don’t know about this one. It is more an outfit lab then WIW. I’m unsure if it works and I would wear it. 100% cotton sweater from Gap is 7 years old and sits in a holding zone. I like it but the neckline is too wide for me and the shape is a bit off. So, here are my two attempts to style it. If it doesn’t work, I will donate this time.

I don't see the neckline as too wide, and the shape has a relaxed/slouchy feel (in a good way; not a sloppy way at all). Can I just say I appreciate the calming palette so so much?!?! I think it's great.

You do ankle pants really well. I like the first outfit here, with the gillet and that soothing pallet, a lot. The last one looks “choppy” to me.

I like all the outfits with a slight preference for a sporty outfit in #4 - looks cool and modern!
The wool vest feels a bit overwhelming with a dressy shoes - what about the strong boots in somewhat tougher style ( if that's interesting for
you )?

Slim cat, this is the only pair of shoes in warm color that I have All my boots are black and didn’t think of trying with them. I was hoping to buy caramel oxfords to wear with the vest but didn’t find it yet.

I agree with you re neckline and shape of the Gap sweater, Irina, and I would donate it. Perhaps you can find something similarly textured and colored, but with a better fit. Great bags and pants! I especially love those trousers in the first photo; the butterscotch and white palette is very beautiful.

Hmm...I don’t see the neck line as to wide, but then it maybe one of these things that “feels” different than it looks....i love #4 it has a nice dressy athleisure (talk about an oxymoron) look. #2 is great as well. I’m not as big a fan of #1, for me the vest is lovely but doesn’t enhance the rest of the outfit. (Would love to see it with a cream silk blouse instead)

I love this with the tweed trousers especially. I don't think the neckline looks too wide--it sits better without the vest over it, I think. It's sporty and luxe! I prefer the camel trousers sans vest but only because I'm seeing a static picture. If I saw you walking down the street I would do a double take at how immaculate you look. Beautiful outfits!!

I had a very similar cotton sweater that in theory was an ideal slouchy sweater but irl life something was off. It was too boxy and shapeless, and the oatmeal colour did me no favours. Your outfits look good but I can relate. Is the neck a bit stretched?

I slightly prefer #4 because there is more structure to the outfit. KILLER look!

#1 is gorgeous too! You need to be in the mood for architectural volume when you wear it

I think you've done a great job of styling the sweater, but if you just don't like it and haven't been wearing it, perhaps it is time to donate.

Thank you all, you helped me to decide - I’m going to move this sweater to my “work from home” capsule. This is where some of my older pieces go to semi- retire
i will look for a replacement sweater to wear with caramel pants and a vest. I have a couple of cream high neck ones that work but would like to find a crewneck one.

These are fabulous outfits, yet again! I love the textural interest you always seem to include. And the elegant neutrals in interesting proportions. The vest and pants are amazing with the leopard shoes, and the casual outfit with that super bag and the Massimo Dutti tweed pants is so fresh!

Although the sweater looks okay in the photos, I know exactly what you mean about the neckline and fit -- if it feels "off" it will never please you. (This also happens to me sometimes). You might wear a scarf around the neck if you like, to disguise it.

This kind of sweater is hard to wear, but you’ve styled it with panache. I like the textural interest if gives to outfit #1, but #4 is my favourite combination. Good to hear it’s going to be around a little longer and serving a useful purpose in a stylish way.

Ooh, I love 1 soo much. I agree with Angie about a scarf for outfit 2... it feels like a colder weather outfit to me, which is why I think the neckline on the sweater feels a little wide there. But gotta say I like 2 too.

I love these, the colours are so calming, and the textural interest is fabulous. I love the impact the leopard print has.

I like the sweater in both these outfits. It has texture and the neckline does not look too wide. Add a scarf for a fix if you want.

I agree with others about the sweater - looks like a keeper to me! Looks relaxed but still polished. Great buy!

The outfits are fantastic but I guess if I were to split hairs and more structured neckline/sweater would be even better. I think WFH capsule is the perfect place for it. Vest is amazing!

I always love structure and if you didn't post the second outfit I would have said killer to that! But then, I surprised myself for the big love and prefference of nr 4 when comparing both! Now that is a stylish look I strive to achieve for my casuals- love the Obag, and the long gilet -which is a YLF "thing" (to me, anyway:-)).
Hah, sorry I only read the thread after writing my comment above, so you ask about the sweater??? I only saw the gorgeous outfits all together---sweater is white, which is crucial, but you have to love it...

the long gilet was bought as a “wild card” on a whim. Don’t know how much use I will get from it, would it have some longevity in my wardrobe. For now it’s a bit of a play thing but for that I’d say it’s $30 we’ll spent

I love the textures and colours of the first outfit. The oversized sweater adds to the ease and warmth of the overall look.
The second outfit is gorgeous too.

Without reading the comments before me, I'll say this sweater is too big for you. Your styling is bang on in both pictures, but I think a size smaller would make all the difference in the world.

Lisa p, although it is size small, it looks this way. Well, the sweater is moved to WFH capsule and I’m wearing it right now with pajama pants. So much for styling
