WIW - new taupe oxfords

This is a FFBO, but I'm wearing the new taupe oxfords with the dress and cardigan. It's definitely a different look compared to the black shoes.

Do you think it works? I really have to figure out soon what to pack for a seven days city trip/conference and it would be good to know whether the new shoes work with a skirt/dress and hose as well as with pants.

Te be honest I find myself wishing they bookended your hair...but maybe I'm just influenced by how the colors are showing up on my screen. I do love that dress on you.

Thanks Columbine! I can see what you mean - the camera always brings out golden or reddish undertones in my hair that aren't visible IRL. Of course the shoes don't match my hair color exactly, but it definitely looks harmonious when I look in the mirror.

Oh, they're really nice! I think the lightness of them picks up the light tones of your dress as well as your hair. I like the bow detail.

I think they look fine with the dress and would work well at a conference. The color comes across more grey than taupe to me but definitely a bit lighter than the rest of your outift.

The new oxfords are great! I love the colour & the laces & feel myself turning a bit green. And I'm sure they bookend your hair very well. I'm not fussy about tights/shoes combinations, so don't really feel qualified to advise you much, but this looks good to my eye!

I think you wear the oxfords very nicely with a dress--it's a good look. Thanks for enlightening us on the color, because it is so hard to tell on screen. I wonder if you might be able to wear lighter stockings, too--maybe nude fishnets? For another option--I like the black tights, too.

Thanks Dee. I think I will definitely take them. I think it won't be easy to create a minimal travel capsule for the week, but I'll try. I might do a post if I have time.

Thanks Sharan! Nude fishnets have been suggested to me before, but it's not something I've really seen in retail. I do need new hose for the trip, so we'll see what I come up with next week. I added a picture of the shoes in natural lighting below.

Love taupe Oxfords here with the black opaques, as they match some lighter patterns on the dress, and bookend your hair!

Looks fine to me. Colours all harmonise on my screen and the big laces add a nice feminine touch. That's such a pretty dress.

I like the oxfords. The grey is dark enough on my screen to look like black lite. For a different, more streamlined look, can you tuck in the laces? I think Angie had a blog post on it some time ago and will try to link.

I think you are right with the dress, but you may want a different look with trousers. You don't remove the laces, just tuck them. I now wear my tie shoes this way and find it more comfortable on my fussy feet.

I like the contrast between the shoes and tights. And I think the shoes DO bookend with your natural coloring.

I really like it Astrid. Funnily, I too have oxfords that I bought thinking they were grey, but are much more like taupe. I think they go with pretty much everything!

Thanks Daria - they're hard to photograph so I can understand why the seller didn't get the color right in the pics. But I like taupe, so it worked out well.

Seriously cute oxfords, Astrid. I love the juxtaposition of the feminine laces with the masculine vibe of the oxford. You were looking for footwear to add a bit of spice to your classics and I think you scored with these. And I can't think of any of your outfits that wouldn't work with them--well, let me backup, maybe not your bikini!

Thanks Gaylene. I figured I'd just generally swap them in for my black shoes, glad to hear it works. The soles of the black ones are done in, especially at the heels. And I don't think resoling is an option. I think I'll relegate them towards the "going out" capsule. Can't have people trampling on my new shoes and the black ones are still good for infrequent wear.
