WIW - new sweater with denim skirt

I wore my new sweater with my denim pencil skirt today. I liked the way it looked, but I didn't like the skirt - I hate how my stride is shortened when I'm walking around wearing it. That would be why I never wear it. I think this sweater will just be paired with pants in the future!

It looks really nice, Astrid. Can you split the seam of the skirt in the back a bit to give you more room? Kind of like a kick pleat?

Well, it looks cute especially with the tights. But comfort is king, at least most of the time.

Looks great but I know what you mean about walking. Could you open the bottom buttons?

Does the skirt have any stretch? And can you make a slit in back? Mine has both and that allows it to feel okay for walking even though it is below knee length.

I was going to suggest the same thing as Caro, Astrid, I too get annoyed when I can't stride like I normally do:-)
It is a very fun look, though, so I hope you find a solution for your naughty skirt.

Well, it is cute, and I love my own denim skirt, but somehow your swishy A-lines seem to be more Astrid, if you know what I mean.

No, this is my only one. I always thought about replacing it some time, but I haven't found the perfect one yet and I want to wait until I find it. Not that I make the same mistake again!

Such a shame that the skirt doesn't work for you. How awesome that you're chalking it up as a wardrobe mistake so quickly. Usually I have a hard time coming to terms with mistakes, so thanks for being strong and inspiring on that score.

Thanks Atlantia! I'm glad you think so. I've had this one for a while and I knew fairly soon that it was a mistake. I'm still trying to wear it from time to time though, until the perfect replacement comes along.

The solution to narrower skirts is higher heels, since one can't take very long strides in heels! I know you don't wear heels, Astrid, due to all the walking you do, but maybe if you were to wear the highest heeled shoes/boots you own with this skirt it might lower your frustration level. The skirt looks great on you, however!

The skirt is definitely cute enough to save - if having a few buttons undone improves your stride, than remove the unbuttoned buttons and sew them to the buttonholes, that way you don't lose the look of the line of buttons, which is likely why it looks odd to you when worn unbuttoned. Did I use the word 'button' enough? lol

I suppose your answer is to find a great replacement skirt, but just popping in to say this entire outfit looks great on you, and I esp love the tights with those boots. I am inspired!

Thanks Donna! My highest heels are no heels at all I'm afraid. The only higher shoes I have are old dancing shoes!

Thanks Girl X! I think that's a great solution in theory, but it somehow looks off with this skirt. I think it's because they are fewer big buttons, I suspect smaller and more closely placed buttons would look better partly unbuttoned.

Thanks Kristin! Those are my favourite tights. They have some small holes, but I wear them anyway - I haven't found something similar yet and they aren't obvious. I really want more argyle tights!
