WIW - New dress, crops, boot cuts

My house is still a disaster but at least we're getting closer to completion. The asbestos tile that was found (under the old carpet) in our family room has all been cleaned out and mitigated. Now we just need to get the carpet installers to come back and finish.

#1 - New dress - The weather is cooling down so I'm wearing 3/4 sleeves and closed toe shoes.

#2 - Old favorite outfit

#3 - This one is from last week when it was still warm.

#4 - I felt frumpy in this. I'm not sure if the problem was the bootcut jeans or the boots. I'm thinking I need new black boots but I'm curious to hear what others think.

#5 - Entrance to my family room for a couple days while they cleaned out the asbestos tile.

Very nice! I love all your looks. The dress is fab with the nude pumps and love your tunic. I do kind of see what you mean about #4, think it must be the shoes because the rest looks great to me and all I can see of the shoes are round black toes.

Maybe #4 feels too casual? A fluid blouse and dressier shoes?

Nice outfits, my favorites are 1 and 2, and I can see why 2 is a favorite of yours. About #4, I agree with Robin that with another pair of shoes (with a bit of a heel) would be better.

New dress is lovely on you, #2 is also my favorite. About #4 I agree with others, dressier shoes, I usually wear heels with bootcut jeans.

Home repairs are never any fun, but at least it's almost over. I always prefer my bootcut jeans with a heel.

All the outfits are good! For #4, I think a pointy toe would look better. I still wear my bootcuts and I feel frumpy when I wear them with rounded-toe shoes or clogs.

Agreeing with others on a change of shoe, and perhaps a different piece of jewellery. The lariat is a very high-contrast against the top and might be better worn against a dark background an on a more minimal style of top. Asbestos insulation is awful- sorry to hear you are having to deal with it. And I love your purple dress - really flattering with those pumps too.

Hopefully since the tiles were covered up all that time they would have caused your family no harm just sitting there. You will love the new house! Sometimes 17 years since our big renovation just feels recent. It has served us well.
I think the round-toe black boots are too "clumpy" for you. Don't think you need a heeled boot just a different toe shape. And I love the purple dress outfit but feel your legs will be cold!

Really like #1 and #2. Perfect fit in both the dress and tunic.

Even though this goes against my orthopedic sensibilities, a pointed shoe might offset the weight of the denim and boots combo. We're also pretty used to exposed skin (crops and rips), as well as slimmer fits, so that boot cuts and longer lengths will automatically look heavier regardless.

I think it's the bootcut jeans, combined with the rounded toe of the shoe.
Have you tried the bootcuts with sandals?

It must feel good to get the asbestos out. Asbestos was around during the era my house was built, and I was so thankful none was found!

Looking good despite noxious house repair! I would try pointy flats with the boot cuts and, while I am doling it out, a shorter or tucked in top with the crops in #3.

I agree with the general consensus to try a pointy toe boot with more heel.

Lisa p - The necklace is fairly new and I've worn it before with a black top. Maybe I'll stick to that in the future.

JenniNZ - It was still pretty warm that day so my legs weren't cold. Temps were in the mid 70's.

You have great style, Sara. I especially like 1 and 2. It's interesting to see 3 and 4 next to each other--very similar looks for different seasons, and yet I do think the cropped jeans and strappy shoes in 3 look more current. Personally the only thing I would change about 4 is to have a sleeker fit in the jeans. Maybe they have outgrown you!
