Here are the new boots with my plaid skirt. I love this outfit, although I sadly realised that both this one and the blue pullover will need to be replaced some time soon. There are holes under the arms. Not so great. I wonder if I just hadn't seen them before or if they're new? Although the quality of these wasn't awesome to start with, I think it's because they're not pure wool but some kind of mixed content... So I think I need to start looking for one cropped wool pullover to replace the two.
And I thought I'd post some pics of my birthday present! I got the Osprey Farpoint 40, see here. They sent the wrong size first, so I didn't get to keep the one I unwrapped. It was the size M/L which was too long in the back. So I reordered the S/M which is a great fit. But it all ended well - my dad loved the bag so much he decided to keep the size M/L. He wants to use it for his school trips. We're bag twins now!
So if anyone is interested in a carryon compliant bag without wheels, this one is great! It has really good backpack straps that can be zipped away and it opens in the front, so you can pack it and access it like a suitecase. The size is 38L, which is plenty. My current black bag is 32L. It's empty in the pics, but I think you get a good idea about the scale (I'm 5'3'' for reference).
I also got a belated birthday present from Ornella today. She read my birthday thread and then got me a lovely bottle of Merlot.
