I had a different plan for this outfit using a light-colored blazer like the inspiration photo, but my oyster-colored jacket is cropped and doesn't look right with tees like this. Plan B: use one of only two slightly boyfriend-y cut blazers I own, and decide to play with colors a little more. I wanted to wear my new Elizabeth & James oxblood blazer, but I have another plan for it later this week so I'm saving it.
I then deviated even more from the original with the partial tuck and studded belt I got in Reykjavik. I wanted to keep the turquoise shoes, and I liked the play of blue/green with the green concert tee. I originally had a black and white old REM tee but changed to the green Gang of Four one, and added the bracelets to play off the colors even more. I liked the idea of statement-y earrings so I added my "vintage" geometric dangly ones circa NYC 1990.
I've done something like this before, so it wasn't a big stretch, but kind of fun and interesting to push it just a little further by mixing the colors since I've only done this with black and white tees in the past.
OMG, this is too funny! I kid you not when just as I'm writing this, my radio station is playing Gang of Four "I Love a Man in a Uniform"! That does not happen every day. My tee is timely.
