WIW - Mustard dress, velvet pants, black, white pants

Here's a few outfits from this week:

#1 - Mustard and black dress with teal scarf. I love this color combination.

#2/3 - Navy blouse with corduroy pants. I couldn't get a good picture of this outfit. The pants are a deep wine color and the corduroy is so fine they look like velvet. I tried to take a selfie picture but they look rust colored. I needed a picture in natural light but it was too dark outside when I left.

#4 - Grey and black striped dress for the day after the election. This reflected my mood. Also I slept terrible the night before so just didn't feel good either.

#5/6 - New thrifted sweater and white jeans. I tried wearing cropped white pants and boots and just couldn't do it. I like the look on others but I can't seem to get it right on me.

I really like 4 and 5/6. The dress looks great on you. In 5/6, your shoes echo your cat's coloring behind you! Anyway I like that outfit, too. I wore cropped pants in the summer, but I haven't embraced the look with boots for fall and winter yet. I tend to lag style wise.

Great variety as usual. I like 5/6 best closely followed by 1. I struggle with white jeans. They look really smart on you. Love the leopard and teal combo.

Wow, all of these are fantastic. I actually think 4 looks so chic--you managed to look great and defy how you felt. Photos are hard as the light wanes, aren't they? I think you've done well here--with your description of the pants in the second outfit, I can see that they are burgundy, and I like the look and feel of velvet-like fine corduroy!

Love these, especially the dresses. And nice white jeans. I can do the cropped but I can't get over my in-grained rule not to wear white at this time of year. I do like them on other people though.

Ledonna - Wouldn't teal boots be fantastic? Unfortunately mine are plain black.

I think my problem with the cropped pants and booties is that my booties don't fit tight enough at my ankle. I have small ankles and a really hard time finding boots that fit tight but I didn't worry about it too much in the past since I was wearing them with longer pants and no one saw the opening.

Can I ask how you style your hair? It looks so cute. I just chopped about 6 inches off of mine and am having a little trouble styling it. It's a similar shape to yours but a little longer. I like how your ends flick out without looking flipped up (if you know what I mean!)

Thanks kerlyn! I dry my hair and use a round brush and blow dryer to give the back some height. Then I flip my hair upside down and blow it more. That usually makes the ends flip. If any pieces aren't flipping the way I like (sometimes one side is straight and the other flipped), I use a flat iron to flip them out. I don't need to flat iron all of it, just a few pieces, so it's really quick. It only takes me 5-10 minutes to do my hair. I don't wash it every day either. On the days I don't wash, I run my wet hands through it to flatten out the bedhead, use the blow dryer for some volume, and then use the flat iron to straighten or flip any stray pieces. This only takes about 5 minutes.

I put styling oil on when it's wet before blow drying. I don't remember the brand - I got it from a Birchbox about a year and a half ago and it's lasted forever. It helps it hold the style and (supposedly) protects it from heat damage.

Excellent! Thanks for the tips! I have just enough wave to make it difficult. My top layer tends to go poofy, and then the bottom flips up (like early Monica from Friends). I liked that in 1997. Not so much now!
I've found it does better if I blow dry sooner rather than later. If I air dry or wait to long to blow dry, I end up poofy and flipped out!
