WIW - mostly neutral Saturday

Just worn for an afternoon in the studio with visitors. Debuted this Trouve white sweater, which I got back in the spring at Nordstom in my search for just the right white sweater -- something good for layering but with a little visual interest. You can't see it in the photo, but there is some nice subtle cabling detail at the top, and zippers on the shoulders. Well, even though it's soft and it looks OK, I'm a bit disappointed, because by the end of one day of wear, it's already showing some pilling. I HATE that.

I was in the mood for a quiet color palette today, but I liked the touch of pink along with the blue/white/taupe/olive tones in this scarf. I don't wear it often, but I like it when I do -- it's the perfect combination of a little bit of volume and a very soft cottony fabric that doesn't slide around much.

Added the hat and jacket for outerwear, but ended up wearing the hat all day since I was not having a particularly good hair day. I kind of liked the play of the olive-y jacket with the taupe boots with the denim and blue.

Oooh I don't like having piling either! Bummer! But the sweater looks amazing on you. I like the quieter colour palette. But wow it actually gets punchier with the cobalt beanie - which plays so well with the olive jacket. Janet you're looking SO good these days.

That white pullover looks killer on you. I can't see the cables but will take your word for it. It's an amazing Essential.

This looks so yummy and soft Janet. I love the white sweater, such a shame about the pilling I love the way your hat slouches to one side and looks so lovely and cosy. Fab scarf colours too.

I took a closer look at the sweater this morning, and the pilling isn't too awful. Just a couple of larger, fluffy pills, if you know what I mean. Enough to just pick off in a few seconds, and not so much that I feel like I need to take the sweater stone or the shaver to it.

I attached a photo of the shoulder detail. It's a very lightweight sweater, and I wore a nude cami underneath. It's a viscose blend with a bit of angora in it, which usually makes me itch, but it must be such a small amount that it doesn't bother me.

Janet , you look great in white! I love this on you and against your dark hair ....looks wonderful:) The scarf is perfect with this too.

sweater pills are the one thing I hate - and it seems that it doesn't matter how expensive at sweater is, it still happens! shaving and pulling them off isn't always the answer either, is it? you can't just keep doing that or eventually you'll start degrading the fibres and thinning out the yarn

Nice white sweater! I feel like a good white sweater is so hard to find. Our weather certainly got cold rather fast this year. I'm starting to wear sweaters everyday already.

I hear you on both the quest for a perfect white sweater, and the pilling. I can't tell you how many I've ordered and tried on over the years. I love my BR one from last spring... finally a WHITE one that fits how I wanted it to, but it's starting to pill as well. After maybe a half dozen wears. GRR. Glad it sounds like this one isn't so bad for you.
