Hi all, happy Hump Day!

Discussions this week got me wondering just how mix and match my wardrobe is, so I decided to play a game (yes, work is slow this week lol!). I outlined the key pieces of my uniform, listed them in a spreadsheet, numbered by category, and then chose randomized methods of selecting which piece to wear by which category, and threw them together as outfits. Very similar to the ROG, but whittled down to a core set of pieces. I'll continue this all week, but here is Monday to today:

1/2. Today's outfit - selected by random child-chosen numbers. T-shirt / skinnies / statement belt / flats / layered necklace. I am playing with the knot of this belt and have moved it inside the first belt hook now, which I think I'll do in future; looks a bit better than shown.

3. Yesterday - selected by Google Home. Colourful knit (subbed a t-shirt as it's hot all of a sudden)/ straight jeans / statement (ish) belt / flats / hoops.

4. Monday - selected by Excel random numbers. T-shirt / straight jeans / neutral belt / flats / layered necklace.

Think it's fair to say my wardrobe is legitimately mix and match so far lol! Also that I am a huge nerd.

You are hilarious! This is great confirmation that your mix-n-match wardrobe is working. The belts are key--the first outfit would be super boring otherwise, and the others are helped out by belts too.

@Angie, computer work somehow just begs for distraction; whereas vacation does not!

@FI yes, I've been using belts a little more strategically since I'm not big into layers - so they are often my 'finishing piece'. The leopard one replaces an older snakeprint one that gave up the ghost, and I think it will be fun!

I like your hair and earrings in the blue/black outfit.
For your next outfit, you could go 'pin the tail on the donkey'-style

Thanks notsaf; nice to have another cousin! ROG is random outfit generator; it's a feature on the site that uses your Finds to create outfits.

CG, thanks! I found a tutorial online I've been copying often as it's super-quick; you only actually do one curl on each side and then just sort of crimp and bend the rest of the flat iron, so it literally takes 5 minutes.

Do you have a link for your hair tutorial? With the exception of straightening, I'm a fail with all flat iron techniques.

I watched the whole thing but really she doesn't get to the flat iron technique until 8 minutes in or so, if you're pressed for time.

My daughter came home a couple a days ago and announced that she is a huge nerd. I told her that's great (and duh!). Anyway, you are an incredibly stylish and beautiful nerd. I like how you randomized your random selection process too!

These all look like great outfits and I agree that a belt is a great way to move an outfit to polished and completed.

My 14 year old was caught watching a video about the world's hardest maths problem (or something like that) on Saturday night. He laughed and said "I am such a nerd" and he is too.

I’m curious if there’s anything you would have done differently with these outfits if you had put them together rather than the ROG. I’m pondering what makes an outfit *intentional.* I guess I still have outfit generation process on the brain! This is a long way of saying that I, too, am a huge nerd.

Thanks for the link, Helena. Her method is brilliant! And, I could listen to her talk all day....love that accent. I tried it out this morning and it turned out pretty good for a first go. I used a bit of texture spray like she did.....I spent 2 hours in the hot sun cleaning my car and was sweaty and gross. Hair still looked pretty good though!

Amazing Marilyn! Yes, I think it's the first hair tutorial I can realistically do On regular days, I don't even both separating it into layers, and it still does the job, but it really does come out nicely when you take the time to follow her steps exactly

I love what you did in outfit 1, and how you knotted the belt and let the end hang, very cute! it’s like a little leopard on your pants, rawr! You’ve balanced the black, white, and brown for color very well.

Outfit 3 has got that dress-casual look and feel to it, and the earrings and belt matching is a clever touch!

Outfit 4 is my favorite; another casual look and simple but makes a statement. I like how you took straight jeans and one day cuffed and the other had them rolled

I’ve been looking everywhere for that to buy to add to my wardrobe, I haven’t found that specific one in any store or online and I’ve looked over a year and you know how I love belts lol . Would you be able to help me out and be willing to part with it? Maybe there’s something I could send you to exchange for it.
