WIW - layered black turtleneck

Hi everyone!
Today I tried the layered turtleneck trend. I do not have many turtlenecks, but have a very old thin black one. I have not worn it layered under a shirt since the 90ies, lol!

I have layered the black turtleneck under a white button down shirt (new Van Laack) . Added a windowpane blazer (old Escada), the now favorite faux leather pants (Betty&co) and a pair of white patent loafers (Suzanne Rae, a few years old) here with sheer black knee high socks. The little bag is a leather mobile phone case in a form of an old fashioned camera case. Pearl earrings and all black sunglasses. Quite pleased with the result, but it became very warm, lol. Will repeat later in the winter with boots.

The second version is the same layered turtleneck, shirt, trousers and shoes, but I used an anthracite colored woolen waistcoat (Boss). I stole it from my DH, it is a part of one of his suits, but he does not wear the waistcoat with it almost at all. He didn’t mind Added a large crystal glass brooch. This is an experiment….

What do you think? Am I trendy in a good way or is it all just too much? Grateful for feedback, comments, tips and suggestions for improvement as always.

Yes, this! I really like the turtleneck layered under the white shirt, especially with the waistcoat. Classic colors with an on trend style.

These are great! My favorite is 4, but they’re all really good. I envy your ability to see/read about a style and be able to do it right. I’ve posted a couple disasters on here where I was trying to do a specific thing—that never ends well for me, lol.

These will be great for the winter, when you need the extra warmth. How did you feel without a scarf?

Stagiare Fash, that is very kind of you to say, There are plenty of failures too. When I look at some things I posted earlier, I wonder what I was thinking, lol. But it is fun to try new things. I have, however, not seen any disasters you have posted at all! I was ok without a scarf, because the turtleneck kind of has the same function - it could be a scarf tucked in to create a similar vibe.

The outfit was a departure for me mainly because I seldom wear cotton button down shirts - almost always silky collarless or pussycat bow blouses or similar. And I have not worn a waistcoat or a knitted vest in 20 plus years

Next are the white shoes…. I struggle with these. Bought them enthusiastically a few years ago and didn’t wear them almost at all. Have tried with opaque socks, sheer black, nude, full length trousers, cropped trousers, dresses … They do not feel quite right. Here, I thought they would bookend the white shirt and the angular shape of the collar, but something is off.

Janet, we have rather chilly weather already - around 10 degrees Celsius daytime. I am very glad - nice time for transitional toppers and some layers. The jacket outfit was still a bit too warm for indoors and too little for outdoors without a further jacket.

I think the white shoes are great here. Did you try looking at the pictures instead of in the mirror? You might feel differently.

For my biggest flop, check out what happened when I decided to push androgynous looks instead of letting them happen. Still, Berlin is the kind of place where you can wear whatever you like and no one blinks.

10 degrees? Brrrrrr. Here it’s in the low teens and I think that’s a little too chilly (although better than 30 like Tampa where we used to live). Next week we have a few days predicted around 16, so I’m leaping at the opportunity to wear shorts, probably for the last time in the year.

Brooklyn, I know - great black boots are the best there is for me too Seriously though, I will wear these trousers most probably with my favorite black Chelsea boots, this outfit too. Thank you for the lovely compliment.
