WIW - lavender and boots ETA and jacket

Yes, it's a cool day. No, not cool enough to need boots, but I'm softening them up by wearing them around the house.

I haven't worn this lavender sweater in quite a while. It's nothing special, except that I really love the colour. Lavender is rarely on trend, so I grab it when I can. It's a very lightweight modal, more of a Tshirt than a sweater really. Which explains the cardigan. I haven't gotten into the habit of shutting my windows at night and it's cold in here.

This isn't the most pulled-together of outfits, but I'm alone at home. I'm not sure what kind of topper would make this work better. Maybe I should try my grey slouchy cardigan again...

Bonus: fuzzy close-ups of both pairs of new boots. I am going to have to adjust the resolution of my photos to allow for close cropping.

ETA - I went out to the bookstore this evening which is a reasonable walk from my place. I obediently tucked my sweater, added a belt, and threw on a jacket and scarf because, baby, it was cold outside. Well, cold compared to a long, hot summer. The black scarf balanced out the black on the bottom enough to make me feel happy. I almost wore the grey cardigan, but I think it has more life left in it than the jacket, so I left it home this time. It was nice to have warm feet.

Lavender is a lovely color for you, and I love the layering! When you layer the sweater over, can you tuck in your top and put on a cool belt?

Love the boots, especially the tall ones. That lavender is really nice on you. A white cami would be pretty too, but maybe you're wearing the black to follow through on the dark tights and boots.

Yes, I was trying to balance out the black on the bottom a bit.

The shorter boots are for when I want to look more lady-like, or when I want the heel with pants. I tried them with the denim skirt and it was a less-than-stellar look. There is juxtaposition, and then there are things that just don't work together.

Lavender is gorgeous on you. One of your colours, for sure. And think how well it pairs with white and grey....by the way, it also works with TAUPE (oh, excuse me, getting a bit carried away..)

Back to the stars of the show: your BOOTS! They look absolutely fantastic on you, both pairs, and I hope you wear the heck out of them this year!!

The lavender top suits you for sure. The black topper works, but I think you could also carry the grey slouchy cardigan with this outfit as well. Give it a try!

LOL @ Suz. I only have a couple of taupe items, and they lean more to the brown, so I didn't find they worked very well with the lavender.

Krista, I did try the grey sweater, and it wasn't bad at all. But I did feel like the black legs all on their own felt kind of blocky. The shape of the sweater worked better though. I can really see it over a black turtleneck or Tshirt.

Lavender is a great color on you. I like the outfit as is, with anyof the pair of boots but the idea of wearing a grey toper also seems interesting.
Do you have any blazers that you can wear with this?

I think the lavender looks great on you. Great score on those boots and booties. I think the booties would look great with a skirt. Maybe you're just not used to the look on yourself? Sometimes it takes a while for me to adjust to a new look.

Boots are great, and the lavender should be hunted for again, as it looks great on you too.

Yes, Angie, you may suggest. ;o) I'll try that next time. But in mid-winter, I'm going as thick as possible. Paired with black sweaters, it should work well.

Thanks to all for the encouragement. I'm going out now, with a blazer and a black scarf and a belt, as per some of the suggestions. I'll try to post a picture later.

KathyL, I do plan on wearing the shorter boots with a skirt, but they just felt weird to me with the denim skirt, at least with tights and such a casual top. So for this outfit they were a no-go.

I am also wondering if grey tights or pantyhose would work with these boots, if I were wearing grey on top. But maybe the sheer black hose would dilute the black enough.

I really like this on you! As others have said, lavender is fab on you and those boots are TDF!
