Not sure how to reference Angie's post
from my phone, but I was planning to wear a kimono this week, and her post got me to do it today! Kimono is from Loft.

A few comments on the others:

3. My new fun Birks! I live in fancy Birks in the summer.

4. Figured out I like gingham best if it's not blue. Top is technically
off the shoulder but won't stay that way so I don't bother.

5. Finally bought and wore the J Crew pineapple skirt.

Love your smile in the kimono pic! It looks great on you. I notice that Loft calls it a "poncho." My Aritzia one is labeled a "blouse." No wonder some people are having trouble finding these things!

I'm not a fan of gingham, but I think you are on to something--I do prefer it in black and white and I like your top. Maybe my motto should be "everything's better in B&W" LOL. Nice job with the kimono, too.

Emily I'm not usually a fan either. I have a J Crew Dress with a large green and blue gingham from a year or so ago, and also a kind of gingham ikat blouse in the same colors. Now this top. I think blue and white looks too much like a picnic table cover for my taste? Tried on the black and white on a whim and surprisingly loved it. I wanted to wear red shoes with it, but the weather didn't allow for it that day.

Oh! Re: kimonos, I meant to add that I was just given one made from Indonesian batik. My friend was in the Peace Corps there and just returned, and she gave me one. It needs to be washed before I can wear it, but I will add a picture of it later. I have some batik I haven't had made into anything yet, from when I visited her, and her kimono gift has inspired me to try to find a tailor in NYC who won't charge me too much to do something with it.

I think the kimono looks fab on you.

I can't get enough of pineapple prints and think the skirt is awesome! I would try it with a pink or green top for extra summer colour.

Thanks, all! The red dress is much more unsructured than I'm used so, so I had to get used to the look on me. I'm starting to favor that kind of shape anyway, and I see it everywhere. I love it now!

I always say that the Birks are the easiest thing in the summer. Especially on NYC streets. The silver and a metallic blue thing I have go with everything. The iridescent ones less so.

Adding a picture here of my kimono made of batik from Java. With the tie waist it seems like lounge wear but I could maybe remove the belt and wear it out?
