I have four different lots of houseguests over the next fortnight and I
will be wearing this striped skirt outfit to do my lady of the manor act. That is, if it passes muster here.
So, what do you think of my take on Angie's graphic tee formula?
I have rolled the waist on the skirt so that the hem skims just below my knees. Is that PSL (Pefect Skirt Length)? I can make it longer.
This is my one and only graphic tee and is a great hit with my grandchildren. It is young, undoubtedly, but as one of my grand-daughters explains: 'Anja (that's my grandmother name) looks old but really she's young.'
Hmm.
I am wearing a cotton vest for a little extra warmth because our Spring weather is so changeable and also I like the vertical line it introduces. It looks better than a cardi but realistically I will wear a cardi with this. An apron too because I will be tied to the kitchen while my visitors are here.

What do you think of the other outfit? Does the moto work, especially in terms of proportions?
I bought the LL Bean Breton after several fabbers recommended it. I have been Very Happy with it.

My DIY gold loafers are proving to be workhorses so for those of you who have been thinking about recolouring shoes, go for it.

I really appreciate whatever you have to say.

Love 1 & 2 it's so perfect I'm jumping up & down Clever grandchildren.

I'm not sure about the proportions in the second outfit - it looks better without the jacket imo. Maybe play with rolling the pants & a darker sandal/shoe or tucking the top & wearing a belt. YLF!

@Tracey Liz, this is what I am after,someone else's eye cast over the skirt length. At full length it practically hits my ankles, that's how long it is.
@Sue, my grandchildren keep me grounded, that's for sure. Thanks for your thumbs up on proportions. I can tell on other people but on myself ... nup.

"lady of the manner" act -- I'm still giggling!
I love the graphic tee with the striped skirt Penny -- LOVELY. It looks like an MC Escher print. Your granddaughter is absolutely right -- you really are young. I just love the whimsy youthfulness of this outfit. (I may have to copy the formula -- not many graphic tees to choose from though)
The breton tee is perfect with the jeans and I love this outfit with and without the moto. I actually don't think it's too short at all I think it's absolutely fabulous!!! (especially with the DIY gold shoes) I am marking this as one of my favorites -- such simple pieces put together so inventively. High five!

@Caro thankyou for your detailed suggestions. My jacket choices are seriously limited, it's a definite wardrobe hole looming for this summer. What do you think would be best with these duds? They are zipped at the ankle and cannot be rolled, too narrow. I will try the darker shoes and belt idea.
@ Day Vies, I am so chuffed by your affirmation, thankyou! I like your thoughts about this tee. It appealed to me instantly although it's not the type of thing I would usually buy. It's Monster brand, an Australian make I think.

Ah! It looks like it's just me so grain of salt time I think what I am seeing (& it is only from one photo remember) is too many breaks in the line - shoes to pants, pants to stripe top then stripe top to jacket. I don't think it looks bad just not perfect imo like the first one. It isn't just the number of breaks it's also the higher contrast & where they fall.

@Caro, nah yeah but nah, as they say in the vernacular. I asked the question because I myself am not 100% on the addition of the jacket. Oh, I'll wear it -I have no alternative- but I think you are right about the outfit being chopped up horizontally. The moto kind of looks plonked on to me.

The skirt and T is a great iteration of this formula. I like the little vest here too. I think the breton outfit looks quite nice but I'd be curious to see a top with a slightly longer, and perhaps rounded off cut, at the hem with the jacket. I think that would help emphasize the cropped intention going on there. Looks great as styled with no jacket though if the weather suits.

I'd probably roll the hems a little on the white jeans if I were styling you. You know me and my pedantic obsession with the lengths of things. But other than that, the proportions look fabulous.

Those gold loafers are bringing out the best in your outfits, injecting some real-gold-warmth into everything.
