WIW - highlighter yellow and light blue, plus K/R shoes

The sun is shining today, even if it is right at about 0 F. So I decided to set aside the winter darks in favor of light blue Citizens Rocket jeans, a J Crew highlighter yellow sweater and a dusty blue BCBG cropped jacket. Rebecca Minkoff yellow tote bag as well. This is not my very favorite WIW but I haven't posted in a while so I decided to show it anyway. I feel that it needed some bit of pattern or another color thrown in. I was unhappy with a scarf because it took away from the straight line of the jacket lapel. What do you think?

Also, one photo is Pikolinos boots, and the other is a pair of sneakers I am considering for an upcoming trip. I am not one to wear sneakers unless exercising, but I thought I'd give it a try with these silver reflective Cole Haans. <http://www.colehaan.com/zerogr.....or=Vapor%2>
They are lightweight and comfy but I think they look too much like mall walkers. What do you think?

Cute color combo!! Doesn't look like you *need* another color to me, but it's your outfit maybe something in coral or salmon pink?

I like the shoes, but they do look a bit like mall walkers. I think they wouldn't so much, maybe with a different outfit. Or maybe if the shirt was untucked possibly.

I kind of like the color-blocking effect of the outfit and would not necessarily complex-it-up with a scarf.And I love that citron -- or "highlighter" yellow (perfect description!) -- with light blue. So fresh.

I agree with trekkiegirl that somehow loosening the overall outfit's tone may help the sneakers feel less mall-walky. To me, the boots add a nice roughness. Maybe the sneakers are just too sleek and too smooth for an outfit that is already pretty sleek?

I actually love these colours together and think your outfit is a great spring-y response to the sunshine! (If only the temperatures would co-operate as well.)

It wouldn't have occurred to me that the outfit "needed something" if you hadn't yourself said it wasn't your favourite. But since you did, I think it would also look good if you swapped out one of the two big bright items for one in a neutral or pattern - I think you had already considered that variation.

I like the Cole Haans but prefer the Pikolinos with this outfit.

Fun to see Spring hopeful colors. I think the sneaks are awesome (but I'm weak when it comes to metallic footwear anyway). The metallic makes them much cooler than mall walkers, however I think the key to wearing the big sneakers is to wear them showing ankle (rolled jeans but probably not advisable in 0), they look most intentionally modern to me with dresses.

I think this looks really cute. And yes, no scarf. I might also want to see this outfit with a dark blue denim jean -- just for kicks. I haven't been able to get into the sneakers but these don't look like mall walkers.

well, i think these shoes are way cooler than "mall walkers" but i agree with Jjsloane, these sneakers need to be seen so that get credit for their coolness--i'd roll or wear with cropped pants.
i really like the outfit with the booties, but maybe i'd try it with darker jeans so less contrast between the top and the bottom. but i'm a matchy-matchy type, so take that with a grain of salt.

You look great in the highlighter yellow, Lisa, and those jeans look great with the booties. I don't mind those sneakers, but am not sure they work with this particular outfit. It might be too pulled-together of a combo for the sneakers. I'd wear them with a loose knit on top instead of the blazer - something white/metallic etc or white/navy maybe.

Agree that it's refreshing to see some brighter spring colors. I had almost forgotten that they exist! This may inspire me to try the same in the near future - it seems like a great way to cope with continuing cold temperatures.

What a treat to see bright yellow! Perfect look for a sunny "early Spring" day (glass half full right). I like the "mall walkers" -- they look chic to me. I'd keep them, they really work with those jeans, or gray jeans.
