WIW - Hello Sailor or Vive Le Francais?

Hi ladies - back at work on Wednesday and here's what I wore. I took my new David Lawrence cobalt /ink striped top for it's first spin. Doesn't show well in the photo but there are tiny pleats at the should which create a slight puffed effect and help add some width to my shoulders balancing out my pearlicious hips. I'm also wearing my pallazo pants which didn't get much love last time I wore them.I love the overlapping buttons and the high waist. I had a false hem added to make them slightly longer which I think looks a lot better. Last photo is my inspiration shot.

I think this works brilliantly Kiwi! That cobalt colour is gorgeous on you and the fit of the top is perfect. Personally, I love the wide trousers on you and the length looks good. I love the peek-a-boo bracelet from under the sleeve of your jacket in #2 and how it picks up the colours in the scarf.

I think this is a great look on you! What did you have added to the hems, cuffs? They are drape-y and dramatic on you. Now you just need to add some white buttons to the waist....or maybe cobalt ones!

I think this is great look on you! Love the wide leg pants and vibrant top color, its just right. Actually, I like your outfit much better than inspiration photo which is a bit too "sailorish" to me

I LOVE this on you! That striped top is out of this world on you and I think the sailor pants look great! "Pearlicous"....that is another one for the YLF lexicon! Right up there with Claire's "sleeve-ectomy"!

Awesome outfit. I too enjoy the blue striped shirt instead of the classic white shirt. I think it would be a fun change to swap out the blue bracelet for one that is white or colorful.

Kiwichik, You really DO Look Fab!!! Absolutely, LOVE your outfit! But, my husband's laughing at me right now, cos of your 'Vive LE Francais', for which he asked me to say 'Merci'. Can I have a 'Vive LA Francaise'?? Cos, I'm feeling left out in the cold here! Lol

Very cute. Your blue bracelet in pic 1 brings it all together beautifully. It is a flattering, classic silhouette that suits you.

It's fine, you gave Thierry and me a laugh!! Anyway, how could a Frog not forgive a Kiwi who wears a Breton top??? And does it with such chic, too!

But more importantly, you gave us all some style inspiration (which IS why we come here, huh?), and it reminded me that when Coco Chanel first copied the sailors she saw in Brittany, she paired HER Breton top with wide-legged pants.

Nina Garcia once wrote: "Coco Chanel first elevated the humble striped Breton top to style status. In the 1930s she designed and wore a striped marinière with palazzo pants – a look adopted from French sailors. Since then many designers and style- setters have followed suit." Guess that makes you a style-setter!
