WIW - Going to the Art gallery on Sunday

Well it's 5pm on Sunday evening and today was a girls day out and by girls I mean my Mum, younger sister, niece, daughter and myself. We went to the Auckland Art Gallery to see the Degas to Dali exhibition. I love the Art Gallery and also really enjoy museums. I really like the impressionists - like Van Gogh & Degas. I discovered the Scottish colourists like John Duncan Fergusson. I also enjoyed the slightly darker work of Max Ernst and Francis Bacon. I've included a couple of works by NZ Artists. Sorry no photos of the family they're web averse.

We finished the afternoon off with lunch at a restaurant called Prego - casual Italian dining with a couple of glasses of vino - you can't go wrong.

Yes I found it weirdly attractive I think because I was still recovering from my terrible day at work on Friday & this picture pretty much represented how I felt.

Mona I love this necklace but it's quite heavy so doesn't get an outing as often as it should.

Clasically Casual I'm usually a big people watcher but there was so much to look at I was spoilt for choice.

Nancy & Celia I haven't been to the gallery for yonks & I always find the colour & vibrancy of the art particularly inspiring.

A very artistic look for a day at museum! Lovely in red (killer boots) and edgy in leather.
I used to love the Impressionists (still room in my heart for them) but since marrying an artist with anti-Impressionist taste I have come over to the Surrealists (Ernst is a favorite of DH).

A wonderful end to the weekend and i hope your week goes better than last.

Christieanne I've only just discovered Ernst but after googling him I am familiar with some of his work. It is quite disturbing but in an I can't look away kind of way.

MK I always feel very rock n roll when I wear this jacket especially with what I fondly refer to as my Stevie Nicks boots.

I love the colors in the large mural in #3. That would look so fabulous on our block wall that surrounds the pool and backyard! Well, I can always dream, right?

I love the way you're blending the soft and flowy top with the structure and edge of the leather. Really nice! And those heads freak me out a little -- although they do remind me of a couple of operas I've been in!

Claire I think the colours in that mural would be a perfect backdrop for you.
