WIW - flared leg with trendy top

Here is my version of Angie's flared leg with trendy top. Either my legs are not flared enough or my top is not trendy enough because I do not feel it is working on my body. What are your thoughts.

I think the top length is at odds with the bottom. Seems to me that the less flare you have, the more fitted the top needs to be to emphasize the look?

Your jeans look more straight to me than flairs and like Una said maybe a more fitted top would work better. The top you have on would look really great with skinny jeans.

Deb, all I can see is how fantastic those specs look on you!! Seriously, those are brilliant.

Okay, once past that, I agree with the others that maybe the top length is the issue -- her formula calls for a shorter or cropped top. And as Tracina said, that top would look great with skinnies.

Love your bookending, by the way.

Oh -- the other thing about flares is that most of us need to wear a heel with them, even a low heel does wonders. And right now that is not really in the cards for you with your foot.

Thanks all, I usually do wear this top with skinnies but I read this this morning;

"Fluid or oversized high-low knitwear in a refined and soft fabrication. Because you’re wearing “volume on top of volume” in this version, the high-low hemline is essential for structure as is the drape of the top to ensure that it collapses back onto the body. That way you won’t feel like you’re wearing a shapeless sack. "

and thought she meant this type of top. I guess not this top, anyway.

I see why you interpreted the recipe in this way, Deb - and I am at fault for not specifying that the high-low top needs to taper back to the hip to create structure. You're wearing a swing top tunic with a high-low hemline which does not taper back to the hip. Hope that makes sense, and that your foot is feeling better. xo

Sorry this didn't work for you! I admire your effort though in translating the ensemble. The colour of the top is really lovely on you, and I can see this with skinnies really easily.

I like the tunic on you a lot! You look fab in that color and shape of top. I think it would go better with a skinny-leg pant, but otherwise a nice, casual look. I, too, love the specs on you!

I love the way the top matches your specs. I just think the top needs more tapered bottoms, that's all. I hope you do wear this top again because as others have said it's a nice color on you (and it matches your glasses! did I mention that?)

I'm not sure I understand the complexities of fit present in a high low top. Some of the hi-lows I own confound me from a styling standpoint.
