WIW - first time out with the pink pants and a question

I wore the pink pants outside for the first time today. Only for a few errands, but I wanted to test the waters. I felt a bit self-conscious at first but it got better. What do you think?

And I have a question. I only noticed in the pictures just now that my socks look a bit strange with the oxfords and pants. Should I wear colored socks to coordinate with the pants instead? How do you chose the color of your socks?

you said pink? these pants looks red in the picture... i think it looks good but I would change a couple of things(if you don't mind me butting in). I would wear this not with oxfords but with ballet flats, no socks. I don't wear socks at all, except if wear tennis shoes. If you want to wear socks I would try to match the color to the shoes or pants.
I would also take off the scarf, and maybe wear this color in a bag or something like that.

Thanks Victoria! Yes, they are a very bright pink, somehow I don't get the color pictured right no matter what I do. I like the idea of wearing them with ballet flats, but it's still too cold for that. I don't have pink socks, so maybe I'll have to buy some.

I like these with the oxfords! I think it's a matter of taste since I can't and don't wear ballet flats... they look red on my monitor too. I'm sure they are bright and cheery. You will get used to them, and this is actually a very subtle combo since it looks matched to the shirt.

I like it with the oxfords too. I am another who can't wear ballet flats so I'm all about the oxfords. I have to wear socks in them too... I sometimes match to the pants if I have the right color socks, or I wear secret socks or nude colored socks. You could do nude knee highs too but I find real socks more comfy.

Astrid this looks great. I am loving these jeans on you. I only wear socks with boots, so with an Oxford and pants I would wear a nude stocking (hose) sock:)

I think other ladies had the right idea about the nude socks, that may be the way to go

I love these on you Astrid! Very bright and cheerful. I like the pants with the oxfords but agree that nude socks would work best and then no socks when it's warm enough.

I love this outfit! I don't wear ballet flats and think the oxfords are very cute and add a great vibe. I think socks are something you can play with. If you want them to be noticed, they can be contrasting. If you want them not noticed (like if you have leg line issues - you don't seem to) wear matching or nude.

CUTE! I love the green scarf with this. Re the oxfords, I go sockless because I personally don't like to see the socks especially when paired with skinny jeans. If my feet needed socks on a particular day (happens from time to time), I use those little socks that just cover the toes so no socks show.

Anyway...re: socks. To me, multicoloured socks are fun, or you can go neutral with beige, grey, or navy. As long as they're not white, I think you're good!

I can't see your socks in the pics. I'm a socks gal, and those little footie things don't work for me, so I match my socks to my shoes, generally, when I have to wear them.

Thanks Una! I guess so. I like to wear ballet flats, but only in the summer when it's really warm and then mostly with skirts and bare legs. I get cold feet easily and I wouldn't wear ballet flats when it's cold enough for long pants and a jacket or scarf.

Thanks Diana! I definitely prefer real socks too. I think I definitely want to try some that match the pants. This issue really hasn't come up before, because until last fall I mostly wore tights or hose anyway.

Victoria, I guess that would be the best. I'll have to try and see if these work out for me.

Thanks Fruitful! I never thought about socks as an accessoire before, I think I need to buy some fun ones. I only have grey, brown or black socks I think.

Thanks Aida! I've tried these little socks you mentioned before and was really uncomfortable in them, they never stayed where they were supposed to be.

Astrid, this looks great! I'm so proud of you for wearing the bright pink pants out (even if it was just to run a few errands--great idea BTW)! The muted palette of the shirt and scarf help tone them down. I love your choice of oxfords with them, and I second the idea to look for some fun "accessory" type socks, perhaps menswear inspired? You look fab!

Thanks Claire! It was great to get a feel for them. That way I won't feel too self-conscious in the future. I'll definitely go shopping for some fun socks soon. I love to buy fun tights, so why not buying fun socks?

Cute pants on you! I think you can style them a variety of ways. They look nice with the oxfords and of course ballet flats are a natural.

I think the hot pink pants are great with the plaid shirt, very subtle but still a column effect which is quite flattering. I think the oxfords with nude socks is a great plan. I had some oatmeal colored ones some time ago with a bit of fleck in the weave that were amazingly versatile and didnt look like "i am trying to pretend my legs are bare even thought they arent" like nudes sometimes can do..

Thanks Sarah! I think that column effect is the way to go, I didn't like it as much when there was a bigger contrast between top and bottom. You have a good point about the nude socks and "pretending", that looks never good. I'll try to pay attention to that!

Re the socks when wearing high vamp shoes I wear these http://www.sockshop.co.uk/prod.....ners/index they are invisibale under my shoes, offer extra protection from rubbing which I get when wearing no socks and are also warmer when it's cold and stop sweaty feet when it's hot x

Do you need socks? I wear this type of shoe without them, if wearing skinnies. I think Angie uses a no show sock with this type of shoe.

Zapotee, I'll try wearing them without socks when it's warmer, but I normally prefer wearing socks.
