WIW - feeling random - YouLookFab Forum

The weather is cool enough for layers and these are some recent outfits I have worn. Looking at them I realize I am sort of stylistically confused. I am a SAHM/WAHM and really only need to dress to impress myself. I know there are consistent elements in my outfits, but I am not sure there is a consistent style. I am not exactly bothered by this question - more curious than anything.
#1 Is my nod to Angie's unrolled bf/long torso look, although on all over short me I am not sure it working.
#2 Is another striped shirt attempt. These jeans are my idea of a statement piece. But maybe this is asking too much of these jeans.
#3 Lack of statement as a statement?
#4 Sorry for the blurry picture, but I was impressed that I could pull off neat (as in tidy).

Any thoughts, suggestions for improvements or other reactions welcome. Thanks!

I like 1 and 3 best. Maybe you could add a cuff to 3? I'd also love to see 2 with a scarf or necklace.

I love the stripes and blazer in 2, I think that looks great. Throw a scarf on too?

I think 3 tucked with a studded or embellished belt would look great. I love the button detail on the shirt.

Can I just say that I LOVE your hair?! it makes me want to grow mine out. Alas, mine is stick-straight, and I don't think would look nearly so lovely as yours.

Shevia - I'm so in love with your easy style! I don't mean easy in a negative way - your outfits always looks so fantastic but not like you thought about it for ages to make it work, you know?

You also have this nod to menswear that really interests me - just fab!

Love the jeans in #1. I actually like the shorter cardigan as it shows off the belt nicely and a peek of the top underneath.

The simple statement of #3 is spot on .

Adore #4 and if I could get away with an outfit like that, I would wear it in a second!

I like all these outfits. They all have a sort of slouchy/easy vibe that I wish I could pull off. I would probably add a long necklace to #3 to add some detail.

Thank you all for your thoughtful comments. I tend to skip the extra step of adding a necklace or scarf (unless I am cold), which might be creating the easy look - less steps is easier after all. I actually think #2 is most in need of some color near my face.

Shevia, I agree with Shannon. You have an easy yet so-carefully-put-together elegance that is very appealing, along with the slight menswear look!

My absolute favourite is #3, and it is so instructive to me to see this. An outfit really CAN be as simple as this, and be fantastic. You don't need anything else to shine. LOVE!!!

I really like the others, too. It's interesting that so many of us are hankering to try out this "long body" look. I am not quite sure what makes it work so well in that photo...it might be the girl's lithesome shape, of course, but I also wonder if part of it is the camera angle? Anyway, I like your version with the cropped cardi and the strong belt.

Also love #2 and am curious about the jeans - what fabrication are those? I can't tell.

You absolutely are tidy as a pin in #4. You look like a British schoolboy before he goes outdoors and gets all mussed up. In a good way.

I agree with Shannon, that you have a "thrown together" look that works! It's as tomboy as it is modern and arty with a little hippy-chic thrown into the mix. Unique. Those curls add the best girly element to your outfits. I love it!

All these outfits are fab - and not easy to pull off with style I might add. But you do it with panache. You OWN this look. And your outfits always make me smile. Thanks!

I love all of these! I like the absence of scarves and necklaces, and agree that it makes everything seem so easy!

I don't think you need accessories because your pieces and textures are so interesting. My favorite is #1!

Agree with Isis --- you style doesn't NEED the extra accessories. It reads to me throughout as sort of 'relaxed tailored' with a side order of artsy, tomboy-ish whimsy.

My favourite is #3 --- though I'm not sure about calling it 'lack of statement', as the softly slouched pieces definitely speak loud and clear to me! And your hair, which is always deliciously distinctive, looks especially edgy there too.

Ha! I was quickly scrolling my way down to the bottom of the thread to tell you that I see a consistent style, a kind of elegant tomboy, and then I saw Angie beat me to it. I love your curly hair that gives a softer touch to the whole image. I second everything she said.

Wow! Actually it is quite, well, boosting, to be able to think of myself as elegant tomboy and all the other lovely descriptors you used. Suz and Manidipa, I think I might like #3 best also - and it certainly is the epitome of easy. The jeans in #2 are a linen cotton blend and they have a really interesting cut around the knees but I am not sure how well the picture captured it. Isis, R&J, San and JR I just tickled pink that you see a style and even like it! Angie, what can I say, you don't just dispense style advice, you send shots of self esteem over the internet. I hope you know how deeply I appreciate it!

Elegant tomboy - what a perfectly apt description. I love your outfits and they are very consistently you. I think what gives them the statement aspect is YOU wearing them somehow. It would be the difference between me wearing my RATE clothes and my mom wearing them (she would look downtrodden and second-hand because she is far more polished than me!)...

You have a fabulous style that looks cool but comfortable, casual but elegant, minimal and still artistic.
